OUCH! Missing a DSW by $1. Just like the $30 v. $29 incident.

An excellent show. Quite a bit won today, and man, that showcase result was as close as you can get. Hopefully, here's to the big game being just as awesome. :)

This was by far one of the best Super Bowl episodes I've seen in quite a while! The irony here is that the 2 car games that were won (That's too much and Cover up) were played before during a Super Bowl episode 2 years ago, only in reverse order! And if Thomas had only switched the prices instead of kept them as they were, we would've had the first perfect show this season. As for Matthew, if he had said $29,750 he would've been the first person (as far as I'm aware) to be a DSW with just a difference of $1!!!

Interesting to me that Drew mentioned that Jon Dorenbos was on “America’s Got Talent” when CBS has its own talent competition show airing, yep, right after the Super Bowl.

Very nice TTM and Cover Up wins today.

Go football team! :-D

This is gonna be a hot take, but missing your showcase by $251 is only slightly less painful than overbidding by $1

Hotter take, it's not even remotely comparable. One scenario you still win a Showcase, the other scenario you win nothing.

A great and fun episode! Four true wins, $10,000 hit in Plinko, a dollar away from a DSW, and a spinoff and bonus spin in the SCSDs.

Can't blame the Switch loss on the referees :oldlol: Tough setup because of the locations and prices being pretty close to each other. I thought Miami would be more just because it's slightly further away from LA. I wonder if had New Orleans made it to the Super Bowl the other trip would've been to New England/Boston rather than Miami.

Drew seemed pretty surprised that the computer was the other prize to pick with the motorscooter. I was thinking it might've been more expensive than $1,310 so I didn't think Matthew had it either.

As for Matthew, if he had said $29,750 he would've been the first person (as far as I'm aware) to be a DSW with just a difference of $1!!!
There have been perfect bids in the Showcase as well, although I think only one occurred with the Double Showcase rule existing.

There was a contestant in March of 1980 that came within one dollar of the actual retail price of her showcase. Although, I don't think GSN ever reran that episode probably because it featured a fur. Plus there have been $100 and $101 differences when the double showcase leeway was LESS THAN $100, so $100 exactly was NOT a double showcase win back then! I think fate owes us for this too close call today, especially since there haven't been any double showcase wins at all as of yet!

Good show today.
We had our 1st show of the season in which Drew wasn't handed the mic by any model ( he walked out holding it )

Plus there have been $100 and $101 differences when the double showcase leeway was LESS THAN $100!
We also had someone win both showcases ( since they raised the DSW difference to $250 ) with exactly $250

They should have had James and Devin on today and they, George and Drew should have been dressed as NFL referees.

I knew a lot of people would disagree, so that’s why I called it a hot take. :-)

To my knowledge, that's only the 2nd time ever that a contestant missed a Double Showcase by $1. I remember seeing on the tape trading circuit that someone years ago under the old rules was exactly $100 away on their bid, but since you had to be LESS than $100 away, no double.

May not be as heartbreak as overbidding by a dollar or two (which we've seen both of twice, to best recall), but still heartbreak, if for no other reason in this case than it meant not going to the Super Bowl.
