What your Showcase Showdown shout-out be like?
« on: February 08, 2019, 10:36:46 PM »
You know, since Drew took over as host, it's been customary for contestants who make it up on stage and spin the wheel for the Showcase Showdown to give shoutouts to people close to them.

How would yours go, if you ever get to that point, is what I ask here.

Me: "I want to say hi to my brothers Jaron, Danny and Mike, to all of my family watching, and to all the anime and sports fans out there!!" :D

I would just spin the wheel. This is another reason why I stopped watching so long ago- Drew makes it sound so forced. “Who do you want to say hi to?”

For the most part, I agree with someguy. But then I had this thought which would most likely get edited somehow... “Yes, I’d like to say hi to my friends Robert, Roger, Marc, John, Steve, Alfonzo...” Hehehehe...

I would probably just spin the wheel too, since my result would most likely be edited out.  If I credited Western PA and the Steelers they'd probably have to edit out getting pummeled by Drew.  Though if asked I'd probably stick to family and leave out the black and gold since they're currently a mess.

I don't have a problem with it either way.  For most of the contestants, it's their 15 minute moment and it's probably a blessing that they got to be on television and on stage

I'd probably just say hi to family and friends.

If I had gotten up on stage, I would’ve said hi to all of the telephone pole screamers and purple wheel watchers.

I'm guessing the latter is a reference to the time the wheel got repainted...but telephone pole screamers? Do I even want to know?

It's a reference to an infamous blog post from Drew about this site circa 2010. (To be fair, though, he clarified that such a description applied only to a small minority of posters.)

If it was me at the big wheel, I would say hi to everyone in the golden-road.net family, my friends, my family, and Bob Barker.

It's interesting to note that saying hello to someone on TV was once banned. I recall watching Wheel way back in Sajak's early NBC run, someone asked to say hello, and Pat quickly shut them down, stating it was against FCC rules. Barker also use to flatly refuse it, as well. Somewhere, broadcasting standards changed, and the practice was allowed.

That was a joke. Gene Rayburn also used it frequently.

No, it wasn't

If it was anything, it would've been a network regulation. There never was an FCC regulation about saying hi to someone.
YES! You have them all right! You win $2,500! You will putt from the closest line!

Jhc2010 putts from the closest line and WINS!!!

Congratulations! Those 2 cars are yours! Now we go to the Showcase Showdown! You will spin first. Pick a number between 1 and 20.
