Props to Jodi and Ramon.  Met on a blind date on TPIR, play One Away together and win a pair of cars, THEN go to the showcase together and win ANOTHER pair of cars.  Not a bad date in my opinion!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I know they offered two cars in One Away and in one of the showcases, but am I reading it right that there was no car in the first half of the pricing games?
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

This was a fun show just because of all the norms that were bucked. Door one entrance? Two cars in One Away? Crazy stuff.

Not to mention the Grand Game cue for Pick-a-Pair. And yes, it really was a fun Valentine's Day Special.

TPIR historians: when was the last time there was one, and exactly one, PG played for car(s) in the one hour format?
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

I know for some time in the 1980s they would play a cash game in lieu of a second car game. I'd venture to guess it was done at least one other time in one of these Drew-Mike era specials though.

Good show, although the whole blind date thing is too gimmicky. Could've just had couples playing. Odd to only have the one car game played, but since the one game they did was played for two cars it's understandable they wouldn't want to offer two cars in two games plus the Showcases.

The roller set was definitely a toss-up in Hot Seat. I do wonder if they would've bailed had they been playing separately or were a couple; I think the blind date aspect made it more likely to just go for it rather than playing it safe. Is this the least amount of time a contestant had left after the last SP?

I was thinking $19,211 in Push Over since it was for four people, although Cancun is usually less expensive.

Of course One Away was won so it doesn't really matter, but it was strange and seemed unfair to play it for the combined price of two separate cars. Couldn't they have just offered a pair of the same car and had the contestants price one? Or play a 2 prize game for the cars?

Both Showcase Showdowns resulted in automatic wins for the third spinner because the first two went over, I'm sure that doesn't happen very often.

Pretty crazy that the Showcase with two trips was worth more than $12,000 more than the one with two cars. Jodi and Ramon basically had the second set of cars in the bag as long as they didn't go over.

Agreed.  More games won than not, and as mentioned, going off-script with what their routine is.  Growing up I have been pleasantly surprised whenever there was a way they did the show only for the producers to throw a curveball.

Yeah the one car game thing (as in one PG tops for a car) was more expected than not until the mid-80s.  But I can't even recall of the top of my head when they would do so without a cash game in the same show or when they would offer a boat/motor home in the other half (usually Golden Road)

I'm okay with the blind date thing.  I agree couples in general would have been more than enough but I actually used to hope for these specials or specials in general (to a lesser extent however) growing up so this is nice.  Especially Valentine's Day where it's such a great time

One of more Unique shows you will ever see.
Hot Seat played 1st for the 1st time ever ( the only place it hasn't been played is 2nd)
We had both showcase showdowns end up with the 1st two spinners in both rounds going over ( don't know the last time that happened in the same show )
It could have happen before , but we ( might ) have set a record today: The most total cars won for a showcase winner(s) , 4

One would expect 4 could have happened before, as even in a regular setting winning Triple Play plus a showcase with one car would make 4.
Not sure that's it's even been more than that, but also possible, I guess (didn't they do a game with 4 cars once at least?).

The last contestant to win Triple Play and win their showcase was on 10/6/06, their showcase didn't have a car.
The contestant who won 4 cars in Race Game in 2011 didn't make it passed the showcase showdown.

It has been almost 40 years since the last time only car game was played on the show.

I think it was 1981 or 1982 since the last there was one pricing game played for a car.
