Tonight's game was a microcosm of the Nationals season. During the year the Nats started 19-31 yet came all the way back to make the playoffs. Tonight Scherzer was off and the Nats fell behind 3-0. A strong bullpen outing from Strasburg and a 3 run eighth inning culminating with Juan Soto's clutch hit turned the game around. Man Josh Hader is overrated. Since Strasburg ended up having to pitch tonight, I'm guessing Corbin starts game 1.
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

I wouldn't want to be in Milwaukee and named Trent Grisham right now.

And the impoverished Tampa Bay Rays are in the final 8 with a 5-1 over the A's. The Rays use 4 home runs, including 2 by Diaz and a strong night of pitching with Morton going 5 and the bullpen going 4 to get the win.

Time for the slurping of Billy Beane to stop. His teams ain't that great. In the 20 seasons from 2000-2019 the As have won NO American League Pennants and only played in the ALCS 1ce, that in 2006.

Rays now move on to the play Astros in the ALDS.

Astros are at the top of the playoff teams favored to win the whole ball of wax. Rays are at the bottom.

Billy has proven that he dismantles teams with the same fervor as he does putting them together. Shipping Yoenis Cespedes at the trade deadline a few years back was a prime example of that.

Also, the Mets have shown Mickey Callaway the door.

The Division Series starts today. My picks:

St. Louis over Atlanta in 4.
LA Dodgers over Washington in 3.
Houston over Tampa Bay in 3.
NY Yankees over Minnesota in 5.

New York should have an easy time with Minnesota, but for some reason I'll pick the Rays to upset the Astros in 4.

When you have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball and players get hot, they're values go up and teams can't afford them. Look what happened to the Royals after 2015, nearly everyone performed so well they couldn't afford them anymore despite ranking in middle of payroll.

Take a look and see.

Ratings for the two Wild Card games did not crack the 5 million mark for the first time this year. Perhaps this is like a Game 7 where the winner moves on and the loser goes home, or even getting the Rays-A's they still aren't interested. I guess the postseason is not what it used to be now.

Atlanta and Washington tie up their respective series behind the arms of Mike Foltynewicz and Stephen Strasburg; Houston and the Yankees draw first blood in their ALDSs.

The Yankees are one game away from going to the ALCS. Game 2 of Houston/Tampa Bay to follow.

Houston is a game away as well, topping Tampa Bay last night 3-1.

After Adam Wainwright had Atlanta handcuffed all game in game 3, Cardinals closer Carlos Hernandez implodes with two out in the ninth and blows the save. Braves takes the game, 3-1 and takes a 2-1 lead in the series.
