Money Game Top Row Middle Number
« on: April 06, 2019, 02:15:35 PM »
I'm not sure for how long now the show has been doing this, but I do know that the center number in the top row is always the season number of the show.  Currently it is 47.  LFaTs would know more likely than not to avoid selecting this as the last 2 digits in the price of the car.

My question is, is this why the show does this?  Do they do this to give fans who are more loyal a slight handicap in this game?

Because it's neat.

Wasn't there a playing this season (or last) where the top middle was actually one of the correct answers?

The producers started placing the current season number of the show as the top middle number in Money Game playings back in season 35, Barker's final season. There have been a few instances (though not many) since then where the top middle number was something OTHER than the current season number. IIRC, there have also been a mere handful of instances where the current season number was one of the correct numbers for the price of the car.

Seems like it is about once a year.

Same answer for the themed Grocery Game playings.

Has "el-cheapo" been mentioned during the last 12 years? I'm guessing "no."

Drew actually has mentioned el cheapo by name several times in the last few years.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

I distinctly remember him using the phrase a handful of times now and then.
