New pricing game idea: Slam Dunk
« on: May 17, 2019, 02:12:11 PM »
This game will be played on centerstage with an exciting prize reveal behind door number two. This game features a basketball goal on a track. There are five prizes to work with.  The target price is revealed & one by one the contestant is asked if the prize value is greater than or less than the target price. For each correct guess the basketball goal moves one click closer to the contestant. If they get all five correct the goal is arms reach away. One in wins.

I'm thinking of how many pricing games they'll have to retire to make room for this humongous set. But seriously, it's a fine idea. Realistically, I don't think it would work, and here's why. If you're thinking of a standard basketball hoop, then to have the thing at arms reach would be impractical, as the hoop itself is directly above you. If you're thinking of a little kiddie size hoop, then basically all you have to do is let the ball roll off your fingers and you win.

Isn't this just Hole in One with a higher or lower SP portion?

Essentially, yes. In this case, though, the hoop moves closer to you, whereas in Hole in One you move closer to the hole.

My idea was to create another sport related game, whereas younger people who might not be good at pricing, might be able to shoot a basket, but if a 75 year old lady plays, her pricing skills could still enable a win.

In the shooting portion, I would give the player two shots, similar to how two putts can be taken in Hole in One. I would imagine Drew or a model (especially Devin, given his athletic background) take the inspiration shot, then the player takes his/her own shot. Miss the first shot, you get a do-over; miss the second one, you lose.

Sounds like you're trying to resurrect On The Nose. Well we had basketball for On The Nose, but instead of distance, we got shots based upon how well you guessed the price of the car. The pricing concept isn't bad either, sort of like Grand Game but with a more/less element thrown in. Anyways, On The Nose should have done something similar in terms of making the target closer instead of giving you more chances, though two would have been fair if there had been too many losses with just one.
