department stores showcases
« on: June 03, 2019, 10:33:17 PM »
Out of curiosity:

1) when was this used for the last time?  My latest memories of it are around 1988-89, by my best recollection

2) did they ever in fact go all the way to the 8th floor?  Usually it seemed they stopped no later than the 5th most of the time

3) I'm assuming the floor dial was a panel off to the side of the stage manually twisted to the floor in question when prompted; can anyone confirm this?

The department store showcase lasted quite a long time, at least until 2005.

That's the only answer I can give.

The department store showcase lasted until the late 80s, and came back for a few years in the early 2000's.

Wasn't there at least one where it "crashed through the roof"?

If memory serves me right, there was one where, after going up several floors, they went "down, down, down" to the basement, the parking level, and revealed a car.  Then again, I could've dreamed it.  HAHA
