Viewing patterns change. Audience tastes change. The show fits where things are in 2019 quite well.

Yes, it has jumped the shark.  After almost 50 years on the air, it had to change and evolve to keep up with the changes in the audience, technology and the television industry overall.  We are lucky it didn't jump more than it has.   If they didn't edit it so much and make the games so hard on regular episodes, and then embarrassingly easy on the themed shows, we wouldn't be so far away from Classic Price.

What's missing are the surprises that made the show special.  With Classic Price the daily viewer would get treated to surprises now and then, whether it was a more expensive car in a regular car game, a contestant with an authentic unexpected reaction or spontaneous chat with Bob, a model making a harmless mistake during a prize demo, etc.  Today, the show is simply too predictable: smart phones, $16,000 cars, trips, trips, trips, and the editing makes it more of reality show vs. a game show.
What about Manuela accidentally giving away a car? Or George on a treadmill?

I think what JT is getting at is that during the Bob years, especially during the 70s, those surprises were near-everyday occurrences. Now, yes, you have the once-in-a-while blooper (the coffee package disaster a few years ago and the two Flip Flop incidents this season come to mind), but they happen not at all as often as they used to.

Thanks Trevor and tpir04 for building on my comments.  Yes, the Manuela/treadmill/coffee package events were real authentic moments from Drew's current run; we just don't see enough unexpected moments due to editing, time constraints and Drew's inability to chat with contestants and bring out funny spontaneous banter.

To be fair, they do post some moments onto social media and the CBS.com upload that didn't make it on air also. Obviously that wasn't an option during Bob's tenure since it didn't exist. We only knew about some things that happened but weren't aired late in Bob's tenure because people that worked on the show or attended the taping saw them and reported it.

And don't forget the little gem that is YouTube. They are notorious for posting bloopers and funny moments, especially in the world of Family Feud.

Are the .com episodes extended then? like I knew the credit rolls were added on from the beginning of Drew's run, but never realized they'd be longer overall if they are. That's quite interesting/cool if true.

Unless I've missed something, there's nothing in the online episodes that isn't also on the broadcast episodes (except the real credits, but that's true of every show).  Any "extras" would be separate videos.

Separate from the episode video. I remember at one time there would be extra bits they would show from between segments or cut from the broadcast within the episode video in some of them but that was a while back.
