2019 NFL Season (100th Anniversary)
« on: August 17, 2019, 11:10:32 PM »
This season, the NFL will celebrate its milestone 100th season in business! Beginning September 5, the season will kick off with the oldest rivalry in the league, when the Bears host the Packers. Then 13 Sunday games, followed by two Monday night games (Texans at Saints in the first game, and Broncos at Raiders in what will probably be the final season opener at Oakland).

Happy 100th, NFL!

It is fitting that the Bears-Packers will open the 100th season of NFL football. I'm glad the NFL made an exception to the Super Bowl Champion opens the season thing to give the NFL's 100th season the opener it deserves. FWIW my vote for greatest player in NFL history goes to Jerry Rice. Joining Rice on my NFL Mount Rushmore are Tom Brady, Lawrence Taylor, and Walter Payton.

Have a great 100rh season, NFL:)
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

I'm hoping for a great season, but it won't be with Andrew Luck.

Possibly the most stunning football news of the year. Early reports suggest Luck's been mentally ground down.

Wow. Luck's retirement tonight is probably the most stunning retirement since Barry Sanders retirement just before the 1999 season. Luck was a great talent but just didn't have the durability not unlike Rob Gronkowski. Despite the brevity of his career, Luck was reasonably accomplished. 4 time Pro Bowler. 4 seasons over 4000 yards, and 3 seasons over 30 touchdowns.

Yeah, it's a shame when someone's body won't hold up to support the talent. I'm a Redskins fan and went through that with RGIII. Still, at least Luck had some good years before it took too much of a toll on him.

The Falcons drafted some OLs to help protect Matt Ryan. I know it's only preseason, but so far they have shown nothing. Ryan has landed on the turf more than dog poop.

Disband the team. The Falcons win their first preseason game in three years.

The Bears have to figure out a way to fix their kicking game next week when they face the Packers on Thursday night for the kickoff.

A low scoring affair tonight but in the end with all the penalties the Packers hold on in the end to take this one over the Bears 10-3.

TV ratings were way up from last year's opener.

In news that doesn't surprise anyone, The Oakland Raiders have cut Antonio Brown following an Instagram post asking for release and voiding nearly $30 million dollars in guarantees.

At virtually the eleventh hour, the Falcons sign WR Julio Jones to an extension through 2023. Will he prove he's worth the money this year? We'll get a sampling today against Minnesota where the Falcons are a 3-point underdog.

My Cardinals begin their season with a 24-24 tie after Kyler Murray led a furious 4th quarter comeback and the Lions shot themselves in the foot with an ill advised timeout. Too bad the Cardinals couldn't score a touchdown instead of a field goal on that 1st possession in overtime but Murray's 4th quarter Performance was encouraging.
