Hard to believe it but the current incarnation of The Price is Right, first known as The New Price is Right for the most of the first season, came on the air for the first time on CBS. And 47 years later, it is still on the air as of today. Here's to many more of The Price is Right!

Thus, I believe you can fairly claim September 4, 1972 was the beginning of the golden age of game shows, as a tremendously creative period proceeded to follow, lasting till roughly 1990 or so, in which numerous legendary shows were created and aired and inspired many if not all of us.  So a happy anniversary to Price as well, and here's to hopefully many more years to come.

Gambit and The Joker's Wild would return in myriad ways. Replays of Gambit ran in selected markets in syndication during 1978, then it would resurface on NBC in 1980 as Las Vegas Gambit. Repeats of The Joker's Wild in Los Angeles in 1976 proved so successful that it came back in first-run syndication in 1977 and ran nine years. Then the 1990 series and the Snoop Dogg revival followed.

Also worth noting that TJW was the game show that more or less relaunched the B&E empire following the quiz show scandals. They later went on to create game shows such as Blank Check, Break the Bank, Tic Tac Dough, and others.

Tic Tac Dough was part of their Quiz Show Scandal shadow. Kristen Falke was a contestant who deliberately lost her game because she was fed answers in advance and felt her victory would be tainted. The 1978 reboot was squeaky clean.

Getting back to Price, the CBS revival came seven years and one day after ABC canceled the original.
