I propose next season, we handicap players average scores with how many games they choose to play.  It’s no wonder the top couple of players have only played half of the available games (rarely missing a double Friday) Otherwise it’s quite easy to game your average by playing only / mostly on Double Fridays- and just barely enough games played to stay in contention. I can’t possibly be the only one who notices this. Otherwise, one’s average is truly not indicative of their CSS ability.   Or simply abolish Double Friday’s , which would accomplish the same task.

^My counter to that is that although you might win the regular season, simply keeping a high score by only playing a little over 40% of the games results in you practically forfeiting any cash bonuses. So yes, in the short term, your score does get inflated, but when doubled Fridays are removed for playoffs and one is forced to play 10 games, you get a 9-10 point bonus going into playoffs... but without consistency, you aren't going to win the title.

The show isn't me, the show isn't necessarily [a] can of soup, how much that is, it's watching people go bananas, and there's going to be some of that missing."

I do feel that the line should be raised to 50%. Otherwise, nothing should be changed. The game is barely hanging on as it is, and the handicap for playing less is passing up DSW’s and/or cashing, as has already been pointed out. I’ve passed up at least five DSW’s this season that I can recall when I chose not to play.

This isn’t a new phenomenon, either - PriceFan985 would usually barely stay above the line and win the points title by a mile.

I don't play CSS, but I'll still throw an idea out there: if you must have double points, pick a random day of the week after the week is over to double. In other words, after the last playing of the week (usually Friday, but not necessarily), roll a die or go to random.org or whatever and pick a random number from 1-N, where N is how many games you played that week. (For example, if you played all 5 days, N = 5, and you'd pick a random number from 1-5.) That day's playing is then retroactively doubled. That keeps one doubled playing per week as well as encourages people to play more, because they don't know if that day's playing will be doubled or not.

Talk about the fun has been doubled. :)

But it sounds like an interesting idea.

Looking back at CSS history, only once has the regular season champion gone on to win the Playoffs... and that was way back in Season 1. So while playing so few games- mostly on Fridays- can cause artificial inflation of scores, it really doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things.

Should the Line be bumped up? Perhaps. I don't think any other major changes need to be made though. Playoffs are a whole new game, and since bonuses are also awarded based on cash standings, it evens out in terms of Playoff standing.

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

I have brought up increasing the line to 50% before and it wasn't received well.

I think shaking things up with double values once every few playings is good, even if it puts inappropriate weight on those playings. it's not supposed to be THAT serious a competition.
