I guess so, and not only that, did you notice the new wider Card Game table?

Always great to see a former contestant from the Barker era play again, which we got in Patricia; her original appearance was 40 years ago.

I did indeed. I wonder if that's what Josh was referring to when he said this:

SBS isn't the only game to have received a larger prop, there is one more to come.

New Card Game set:

Quote from: Mark Goodson
"It's the greatest challenge in the world to invent a new game. For every one you see, every concept that is ultimately refined and developed, a dozen are worked on and not worked on, or almost worked on, or dropped because they don't read any more. We test and hammer and test and hammer...

When you finally get it down so that it looks very very simple, that one has had the most complicated amount of work."

Quote from: Bill Todman
"The sign of a good game, is when you don't have to explain it every day. The key is not simplicity, but apparent simplicity. Password looks like any idiot could have made it up, but we have 14 of our people working on that show. There is a great complexity behind the screen. It requires great work to keep it simple."

This was the set I was referring to (I did drop some hints along the way).

I actually think this is a rare case of it looks worse in studio than it does on TV. Just was a shock after having the old set design for so long!

I like the wider table for Card Game. Nice touch there. It was great to see the first playing on the new table be played so well and won. I don't know if the Kona is new to the show, but I can't remember seeing one on Price before.

I really liked the bright red of the Civic in 5 Price Tags and I was glad to see it won.

I enjoyed the New Halloween themed Kit Kat ad that aired during today's show as well.

With the 4 for 6, both car games won, and the nice new table in Card Game I really enjoyed this episode.
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers.

tpiradam's taping report #1 of 4:

First taping of the season and my third overall trip to LA for the show. Having gone last year I met some incredible people in line who I became fast friends with and we decided to group up together and go this year. Beyond excited that Thomas got called up he was so hyped every since his best friend David won the Showcase last October (hence his shirt). The camera does indeed add 10 pounds it just doesn't distribute them evenly.

Our group had a winning PTR combo so had Thomas won the first IUFB he'd have won the $100K. There was a stopdown early on as there was issues with the lights on the game. There was also a stopdown during Flip Flop and the prize reveal had to be redone.

Card Game didn't look that big from the audience but from where I was sitting was square with the back of the game so I couldn't see it well. Don't remember from the monitors either. I shouted out $22K during Drew's explanation to which he responded 'thank you' but it appears they edited that out.

During Drew's explanation of Most Expensive to Patricia, as Melissa was grabbing the price tag for the accessories she accidentally partially revealed it to some members of the audience. Balance Game's balancing also was a tad longer than shown.

We were all crushed after that last IUFB when Thomas was down there the whole show and didn't get up, not to mention he had three former contestants in our group helping him out. He joins me as a member of the $300 club yaaaaaaaaay.

Patricia had maybe a total of five spins including the ones with Drew. At one point he didn't even get the wheel all the way around and we hopped in with the boos to which he responded playfully 'shut up!' Out in the contestant waiting area after the show Lexie's mom was bragging about how she told her to bid $27,500 and how she would've won both Showcases.

Taping report #2 will come October 3rd!

If you were going to rebuild the Card Game set, why not take the opportunity to move the scoreboard to the right side so that at least a portion of the audience can see what's going on?

You can clearly see a edit on both of Drew's spins. Both times the wheel sped up.

I assume the change to Card Game is to avoid the contestant's back being to the camera.   The table does seem very long though, and the contestant would have to really reach across Drew if they wanted to pick out the cards furthest away.

You could have also done:

Sudafed ($9.99)

Cereal ($5.99) + Popcorn ($3.79) = $9.78

Red bull ($7.79) + Beans ($1.49) = $9.28

Applesauce ($2.99)
Or:
Sudafed ($9.99)
Red bull ($7.79) + Beans ($1.49) = $9.28
Applesauce ($2.99) + Popcorn ($3.79) = $6.78
Cereal ($5.99)

...says the guy who would have put the Red Bull at the bottom (so much for the "second-most expensive on the bottom" strategy)

And the award for the "Most Pointless Set Change" goes to...

There really should be no reason for this change. As mentioned, it was probably done to make directing the game a little better. I still think it's unneeded and probably makes the game more of a hassle to move than it was in the past (though probably not much more). Nothing to gripe over in terms of its appearance. Just over why it needed to be done in the first place. The game still looks fine though.

Always glad to see Tags and a win at that.

This show was a-okay. A nice standard Rent show.
