Yvette was pretty good. It was nice of them to let her model in the second showcase.

This is the kind of episode that would be included on a "best of" Blu Ray release.

Both Showcase contestants took a big risk with their bids, and it showed with one being $702 over and the other being within $684 of her own. If only Lauren had shaved $500 off her bid...

Well, she didn't get up on stage, but it's still something worth mentioning, being as though Yvette is a fairly uncommon name.

I enjoyed watching Yvette's response to being repeatedly outbid by a dollar.  Quite the character!  And then to let her model in the showcase was perfect.  Today's episode had a fun vibe that hearkened back to the Barker days.

Yvette was 6 or 7 places away from me in line! This was the second taping of the day--they had a few seats left over from the previous taping, and a couple of us (including Yvette and her group) stuck around for the second.

We was the last group interviewed of the day, and despite being the last, that group had some REAL standouts. I made friends with the two ladies in line with shirts asking for James to flex for them. They got seated in the front row and were featured in the CC bumper. Well done, ladies :-) One guy (about 6'5"ish, pretty athletic) performed a backflip on command after Stan asked him if he could do it.

I don't remember everything Yvette said in her interview, but I do remember it began something like this:

Stan: Hi, Yvette!
Yvette: *taking Stan by the hand, and pulling him a little bit closer* Hello! I'm gonna forgive you for not picking me the first time!

She was so hilarious and endearing that when Yvette got called, none of us were surprised. They definitely added Drew's reaction to her calldown in post, because she ended up being such a big part of the show's storyline.  I was worried some of it would be left on the cutting room floor, but pretty much everything that they shot of her, they ended up using. She had a bummed reaction after the 5th IUFB when her one-up was unsuccessful and just fell back into her seat in exaggerated pity,

The shenanigans started in the 4th IUFB, when she "attacked" Kenneth--she had everybody in stitches. Camera guys were so focused on getting Yvette's reaction from looking at the final product I wonder if one missed their assignment to stay with Drew and get Kenneth picking him up.

In the break between the 4th and 5th PGs, Yvette had the crowd on her side after being one-upped twice, and George pointed out that she'd be the last bidder and she'd have a chance to capitalize. I think they were definitely looking forward to seeing her on the show and were disappointed when things didn't shake out.

Everybody could see the final one-bid segment coming during the last break, since everyone knew Yvette was a full-hearted character but she would have the second-to-last bid. Yvette even warned Phillip, "Don't you dare! Don't you dare!" during the break.

What the TV audience saw after Phillip bid $1001 was extremely truncated. Everything stopped for about two minutes--Yvette ran back up the aisle to her family in shocked disbelief, the crowd was on her side, and they were chanting her name. She ran back up to Contestant's Row and said "Ding Ding Ding? Ding Ding Ding? It's gonna go Ding Ding Ding and I'm gonna get a perfect bid, right?". Drew replied, "Sorry. No Ding Ding Ding." She just hung back with the audience for a little bit.

After the 6th PG, George and Drew greet the CNAOS and talk with them. They apologized and seemed genuinely sad she didn't get to play a pricing game. After telling the CNAOS they had all won $300, a page escorted Yvette down the aisle out the back of the studio doors. Nobody was sure what was going on until the doors opened in the second showcase... and we all saw her modeling the Jet Ski. It was hilarious and endearing, and I don't think I've ever heard a louder audience.

Definitely one of my favorite contestants I've seen in the Drew era, got to give her a hug after the show.

What else? After Freeze Frame, George and Drew both agreed it either had to be $5210 or $6989, and if it wasn't one it had to be the other.

I think I remember a strange bid on the second item in Rat Race--I forget what it was (it was an x9.99 and wouldn't have won), but she changed it after some time with persuasion from the audience. I'm a bit surprised she wasn't told to bid in dollars. We booed her $69.99, too, and EVERYBODY knew that was a bad bid with a $100 range. But I can't exactly blame her for not thinking things through in that adrenaline-filled environment, and it still ended up working out for her. Exciting finish too.

Lauren was the one person in the studio who didn't think she'd gone over. The showcase price shocked me but she won big. Congrats, Lauren!

I'm not sure how I feel about Yvette.  There were times during the show when she seemed genuinely pissed off about being one-upped, especially when she walked out of Contestants' Row during the last Item up for Bids and sat down on the stairs...but then she seemed really amused when they mentioned her going to Tokyo with Philip, and it was hilarious when she showed up riding that jet ski during the Showcase.  Maybe she came off better in the studio than she did on the air.  (And based on Gamesurf's post that he submitted while I was writing this, I can see that she did.  I kind of wish they'd had enough time to air all that.)

Rat Race was fantastic.  I can't remember the last time somebody actually got all three rats, and the end of the race was really exciting.

Two Yvettes in back-to-back episodes? Lol!
Actually there's one Yvette

No, there are two -- the one from today, and the one from yesterday.

and by the way I have an aunt named Yvette, she's my dad's sister

Dude, don't take this the wrong way, but that's really not something anyone's interested in.  "Yvette" is hardly an uncommon name, and there's nothing noteworthy about it being your aunt's name.

The CBS Price is Right channel is doing a good job in the early going. Spree clip isn't too important, but they covered Yvette and the rare exciting race very well.

Oh, one more thing—after Lauren won her PG, George did not shy away from riffing on her Rat Race bids.

“So, Lauren, tell me honestly.... you thought the knife sharpener could have been negative $30?”

That sounds like it was a *really* fun taping to be at. Thanks for the report, gamesurf! What they showed of Yvette made her look like a lot of fun, and I can believe she was even more fun than they had time to show :).

Regarding Rat Race:

1. I agree with you that I'm surprised they didn't have Lauren give her bid on the second prize in dollars. That's a confusion I can completely understand--after seeing the first item in dollars and cents, there's no obvious reason to think the second item is rounded to the nearest dollar. That said, I'm glad to hear George called her out for that horrific third bid .

2. Does anyone know how they figure out which rat finished first when it's that close? Is there an electronic trigger of some sort on the track or do they stop down and look at the replay?

Is there an electronic trigger of some sort on the track or do they stop down and look at the replay?

I believe there are motion sensors on the track that can tell when a rat crosses the finish line.
