tpiradam's taping report #2 of 4:

We woke up at the crack of stupid to get first priority numbers and it worked today. We got 001-009. gamesurf joined the line not too long after us. Not much different than the day before. Before Stan came out to do the interviewing we rehearsed doing the yodely-guy music. As Stan and his assistant came out Jonathan began conducting (he's a music teacher) and we carried on with our shtick. Stan loved it and one of the staff members had us do it again so she could record it.

Cover Up was certainly exciting. Once that last number lit up we all knew he'd won. I reiterate my statement that Side by Side looks very sharp. Seeing it on TV doesn't do it justice it just goes so well with the whole set, studio included. Hot Seat was also fun. The more shows I see the more games I haven't seen in person before I like to see and Hot Seat was a real treat. Rachel came off nervous at first but once she got in the seat she really hammed it up. I'd have gotten only one right and they kept taking her to ones I thought for sure she had wrong so I thought she could've had the $20k.

Jonathan was from our group (same group as Monday). He was a contestant in 1997 and won a truck playing Lucky $even. He didn't have much luck this time around but he got to have George Gray call him down and got his cue card with his name and he said that was more than enough for him. He now joins me and Thomas in the $300 club.

TTM was interesting. Prior to that game Drew was talking with our group in the audience and I mentioned I worked at a Toyota dealership. Lo and behold the next car offered was a Toyota. I still got it wrong. I tried to base it off of other similar pickups they had offered as I don't recall seeing a Tacoma on the show often. Thomas and David had met and spoken with Brett in line so we were all excited to have him in the Showcase, and floored when we found out that his Showcase was only $21k. We met with Nathaniel and his wife as well as Denise after the show in the contestant waiting area and they were so nice and genuine, really humbled to have had this experience regardless of their outcome.

Taping report #3 on Monday!

Quickie recap:

1) Cover Up (W)
2) Side by Side (W)
3) Pick-a-Pair (W)
4) Hot Seat (L on 4th item)
5) Bargain Game (L)
6) That’s Too Much (L, stopped one too early)

Not much to add except Adam’s group’s singing Cliff Hangers was hilarious. Jonathan, one of the members in Adam’s group and OOA 001 led the music, and was called down 9th. They were fun company for the trip! Definitely fun talking TPIR with. I’ve been watching the Instagram page to see if it shows up at some point, today, but nothing yet. He made his Big Wheel headband himself and had brought it to previous trips.

There was an overbid before the 6th IUFB that was edited out. Lowest bid was $750. I think. I remember feeling a bit bad when Jonathan bid $500 since a Switch and 8 games couldn’t have been too much under $750 (it was $733)

I had no idea the Side by Side prop was so big until seeing it on TV last week. Everything about the set is smaller and more glitzy in person.

Today was the first win with the new Side by Side prop; I still think it feels weird without the Sorry graphic for a loss.

We also got one of the most interesting playings of That's Too Much! with the contestant saying "That's too low; keep going" for the next price up.

When was the last Cover Up playing that didn't have all of 0/5/9 in the last column? Bet they regretted leaving out the 9 today!  :oldlol:

I love watching Cover Up being won by default. It doesn’t happen all that often, so I’m glad it happened here.
