And out of pattern airing can be a bummer for individual markets. Philly for example runs General Hospital at 3. Special report in the 3 pm hour when the 2 pm scheduled airing was free and clear? Sorry, Philly. It’s either been bounced to the graveyard shift, or just partially lost, depending on the circumstances.

Just one example, plenty of quirks all over the place. These things happen.

Do we know how long the hearings will last? I imagine if it's over by 1 ET/10 PT, the West Coast will get reruns of Price. But if it lasts the whole day, that could affect syndicated programs as well.

Likely a 3-4 PM finish ...at best. Worse, could go into primetime.

Game show fans are going to riot if the hearings pre-empt the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions, especially fans in areas where the show airs in daytime and not before or after Wheel of Fortune. I remember the Kavanaugh hearings ended at 7:00 on the dot, allowing both of those shows to air in most cities, although I believe some of the 6:30 ET national news shows delayed to 7:00 but let affiliates switch to local/syndies instead.

I've seen instances where, if a station that airs Jeopardy! in the afternoon is forced to pre-empt it, they move it to Wheel of Fortune's time slot. Hopefully that doesn't happen, although I love both shows. Wheel is already getting pre-empted next Wednesday on the ABC O&O's for the CMA Red Carpet show (though Jeopardy! isn't, unless the hearings pass 7:00).

But regardless, definitely looks like West Coast and/or Hawaii are going to get reruns of Price if they get the show at all.

Jeopardy airs at 12:30 pm eastern here in houston so its very likely it will get preempted.

Jeopardy airs at 12:30 pm Eastern here in Houston so it's very likely it will get preempted.

I'm not sure if Jeopardy will be preempted here in Concord, NH because it airs at 7:30 PM
