Last episode of 2019. Let's take a look.

-Let em Roll for $100k, and won! Definitely a good start to the show. I will admit I was a bit worried after the 2nd roll, but luckily Michael was able to recover. (Also doesn't help that this was spoiled beforehand.)
-Great win on Side by Side. I would've lost (partly because I didn't quite know where Seychelles was xD).

After that though, it started to get ugly, starting with a very oy-vey worthy Cliff playing. Dunno what prompted her to bid $5 on a caddy set, or on any SP for that matter, but it was definitely wrong and that's what cost her a 1955 Ford Thunderbird on a very easy setup.
-One Right Price was surprisingly difficult. The bar set, however, didn't seem like it would end in 3.
-Yes ladies and gentlemen, that was a Maserati. Yes, it was offered on That's too Much. And yes, it was evil. Not very often is the price the 7th in the row.
-Clever idea for Range Game though. I really liked the idea of the range descending to the bottom imitating the Times Square ball drop. And the fact that it was won is good too.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Live for the present.  Embrace the future.  Our favorite game show is still producing excellent, high quality, exciting, hour-long* shows every weekday throughout its traditional season window.  It’s as good as it’s been in a long, long time.  If the 1980s were the ‘good ole days’ for the Barker era, so is RIGHT NOW for the Carey era.  Don’t worry about what the future holds.  It will play out in due time.  Enjoy what we have right in front of us in the meantime!

While reverse Range didn't really affect the playing or the pricing nowadays, on principle I absolutely hate changing the rules out of the blue.

I forgot how damn gimmicky they insist on making this show. the 9k bonus for one PG only? screw off, and it was set up really hard too on purpose.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

But DID they change the rules?  Not really.  They just changed the mechanics of the game.  The range finder moved down instead of up, and it was presented in a "New Year's Ball Drop" motif.  Truth is, it was a pretty unique, appropriate idea that had no effect on the game play or rules.

An exciting Let em Roll win to start the show!

What a strange playing of Cliff Hangers. Erin bids $5 on the condiment holder like its some cheap Walmart item, then is exactly right on the toaster, and ends by goes way over on the popcorn machine. Funny that George pleaded to her to win the car, guess they must've really wanted to get it out of the storage lot lol.

Pretty tough One Right Price, although I thought the price shown was too high for the bar set.

That's Too Much was pretty much a crapshoot. We couldn't get a repeat of the result from Dream Car Week sadly.

Interesting idea reversing the usual gameplay for Range Game in the spirit of the ball drop. I'm surprised they haven't done that before on the Best of 20xx show. I didn't like it or hate it, but the ball design surrounding the range was odd and distracting. Of course when they do it the contestant is from New York. I was worried she stopped too early.

I was about to ask why there was no LMAD/TPIR mash-up game, like there was in the Best Of episode that followed the first mash-up, but then I noticed the tape date was 11/20, so they already knew that Mash-Up Week had been moved to 2020.

The best thing I like about this episode, someone won 100K playing Let 'Em Roll, there is a range game portraying as the ball drop, and the 1955 TBird

How ironic that Linda won a trip to her hometown by playing the first-ever Range Game in reverse!

I thought it was clever that they put the retro-styled Side by Side and a 1955 Thunderbird (about $2,500 new) in back-to-back acts. BTW, Erin made stupid bids on the first and third SPs, and not even the perfect bid on the second one could save her from certain doom.

Everything from the start to when the third IUFB price was revealed was pre-empted in the Pacific time zone because CBS's coverage of the Sun Bowl (excuse me...the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl) ran long

It perfectly fit the theme of the day and prize. There’s no harm whatsoever.

Wrong. Going down in price changes the rules, as inconsequential as it was. Hypothetically you have to worry about going past too high of a price as opposed to too low.

Do they have to wait 73 hours to restart Range Game when they start at the top?  :-P

(P.S. That seems like something they should have saved for the April Fools' Day episode.)
So this is the "get off of my lawn" stage of my life.  I'm not impressed.

"Inconsequential" and "hypothetically" are very much the operative words there. As I'm sure everyone here is aware, the $600 range has been a complete joke for a long time now and the game might as well be called "Press the button when the rangefinder is somewhere near the middle." The producers know this too...so why not have a little fun with the concept?
