A double whammy to start the day.
First, WrestlingNews.co is
reporting that WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Road Warrior Animal (real name: Joe Laurinaitis) has passed away at the age of 60.
Along with partner Road Warrior Hawk (real name: Michael Hegstrand [1957-2003]), R.W. Animal formed the Road Warriors (a/k/a The Legion of Doom), considered to be one of the greatest tag teams of all time, having won titles in every wrestling promotion they ever competed in.
And the official NFL website is
reporting that NFL Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers has passed away at age 77.
Sayers' autobiography, "I Am Third," about his friendship with Chicago Bears teammate Brian Piccolo (1943-1970) was the inspiration for the classic 1971 TV movie "Brian's Song," in which Sayers was played by Billy Dee Williams.
No cause of death information was available as of original posting time for either individual.
