Your bid is $41,226.

DING!

There it is, and now, tpiradam, here comes your Showcase!

(Showcase 2007)

GEORGE: Now that we're back in 2020, let's see what you can win with this Showcase, and it starts off with a blackjack table! (Rachel models it in front of Door #1) (applause)

Play to your heart's content with this blackjack table from AmericanGamingSupply.com, which features a green velvet playing surface, a full 52-card deck and gambling chips. Next, we're sending you on the vacation of a lifetime, to fabulous Hawaii! (James models it on plasma screen behind audience) (cheers and applause)

You and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to Honolulu, Hawaii, for a six-night stay at theHyatt Centric Waikiki Beach. Take in the beautiful sights and sounds that Hawaii has to offer, plus it's conveniently located along the famed beach with an oceanfront view. Daily breakfast is included. Finally, we have a prize that will blow your mind the minute you see it, a new pontoon boat! (Rachel models it in Door #2) (Grandeur) (cheers and applause)

It's the Bentley Pontoons 240, featuring a 3.0-liter Mercruiser engine, protective canopy, a full lower deck for sleeping and storage, and room for 12 people. A trailer is included. So it's a blackjack table, a trip to Hawaii and a pontoon boat. You'll soon be setting sail in style, if the price is right!

Now tpiradam, I await your bid.

(TPIR Theme 2007)

We're back with the Showcase results, and it's time to see who the winner is. tpiradam, you had the blackjack table, a trip to Hawaii and a pontoon boat. Your bid was $31,500, and the actual retail price is: $47,311, for a difference of...

DING!

...$15,811. (applause) Now we move on to Hag, who had the brass queen bed, an exerciser, a washer/dryer, a settee and a Chevy Colorado. You bid $41,226, actual retail price: (low, sad voice) $38,937.

MRRRRRRRRP!

You are over, and tpiradam wins!

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(TPIR Theme 1972)

(cheers and applause)

tpiradam has won $58,311 in cash and prizes, and that includes the $11,000 he won earlier spinning the Big Wheel. And so ends our Flashback to 1998; I hope you had as much fun watching as we had bringing it to you. This is Teddy here, reminding you to help control the pet population, and have your pets spayed or neutered, because it's the right thing to do. We'll see you next time on The Price is Right. Goodbye, everybody!

(end credits roll)

GEORGE: This is George Gray speaking for The Price is Right, a Fremantle production!

And that's a wrap on another great episode hosted by yours truly! I want to clarify that even though SilverFirePrime was not able to finish out the show, he still gets to keep his prize, because as long as the third strike doe not occur during a pricing game, the contestant will still be awarded any prizes they have won. With that being said, here's the final tally of our winners:

tpiradam ($58,311)
geniusinmath ($25,609)
JayC ($9,386)
Plinkoman ($3,850)
Hag ($1,200)
wpghi5 ($793)
SilverFirePrime ($645)

In terms of gameplay, the results for all six were identical:

Spelling Bee--BAILOUT (both playings saw three total cards earned)
Danger Price--LOSS (although this playing saw a wipeout, and the original playing was lost on the second pick)
Magic #--WIN (both playings had trips as the more expensive prize)
Most Expensive--LOSS (in both playings, the motor scooter was the least expensive prize of the three)
Any Number--WIN (in both playings, the player managed to completely avoid the piggy bank)
Check-Out--LOSS (both differences were in the $3 range)

Think this is one big coincidence, or just a series of intentional setups? You tell me...

Five games were played for the second time (Spelling Bee was won in Episode 16, Danger Price was lost in Episode 13, Magic # was lost in Episode 9, Any Number was won in Episode 8 and Check-Out was won in Episode 11). Most Expensive is the first game on my series to be played three times, but it also suffered its first loss after having been won in Episodes 1 and 16.

As we already spoiled June 3 as the original airdate for the episode that would be reenacted for this one, it's time to announce the winner of the TPG. Here's a recap of all the guesses:

JayC--September 28
geniusinmath--3/18/99
PatrickRox80--January 6, 1998
tpiradam--May 22, 1998
wpghi5--Jun. 15 1999
Clara26--May 21, 1998
Hag--April 14, 1998
GameShowFan9001--September 30, 1998
Plinkoman--May 19, 1998
123123123--December 17, 1998
SilverFirePrime--April 9th, 1998

The winner is tpiradam, since he was the closest without going later. If he signs up for the next show, he will get a First Four pass. And I will definitely do another flashback episode in the future, so be on the lookout for that.

Up next: Episode 29. The floor is now open...

When Episode 29 comes around, sure. I'll have to make out a script first, then wait for approval from cu2010.
