First time I figured a winning Pay the Rent combination during game play:

Detergent (9.99)
Cider + Candy (7.99 + 1.50 = 9.49)
Peanut Butter + Crumbs (5.49 + 2.99 = 8.48)

The first half of the show was interesting, with the somewhat rare $5k bailout in Pay the Rent and Christopher's perfect Money Game.

Talking about Christopher, he definitely made an odd call in the first showcase showdown. I'll leave the actual numbers to the statisticians of the site, but it seems like  taking your chances on not going over on 50 beats trying to win a 3-way spinoff.

I don't know if it was edited out or he's just stopped it altogether, but today's Bonkers playing made me wish Drew gave his 'don't look at the crowd' spiel. I almost heard the pain in his voice when he was giving the time updates. 

Finally, finding the master key when the game seemed to be favoring a wipeout is always nice.

Money Game: Made that look easy!

SCSD #1: Terrible move by Christopher to take the spin off. If he had spun again, he would've had a 50% chance of not going over and thus making the showcase. By taking the spin off, he had a 1/3 (33.333...%) chance of going to the showcase, since each spinner is equally likely to win in a spin off.

Bonkers: Going with the odds for each non-5 digit wins again! Every playing in season 48 has followed that trend. ("Going with the odds" in Bonkers means if the digit is 1-4, select higher, and if the digit is 6-9, go lower. 5s can go either way.)

Master Key: Pick the endpoint won again! (For those not familiar, keys 1 and 5 are the master key much more often than the middle keys.)

Alexandria definitely made the right call with the $5,000 bailout, because she already knew that the second floor was less than the first.

Roger, when was the last time we had a perfect Money Game playing?

While not many people bailout with $5000 on Renty. Alexandria was clearly confident about the prices of the deodorant and the peanut butter and was about right about them. If you're that sure, there is no decision, you take the $5000 and run.

Seeing that Exacta in Money Game was totally awesome baby!. I actually had a gut feeling once Christopher got the 21 on his first try that we were going to have a win. Getting an Exacta was frosting on the cake. 

It makes sense to pair tires and car washes with a car in a prize package, though I have to assume any contestant who failed to win the car would forfeit either of the other prizes if won because what's the point without the car. That doesn't matter today though. Awesome to see Virgil get that Master Key.

Not necessarily. They may already have a car and would still get use out of those prizes. If anything, I'd be more likely to refuse (or sell) that car since I already have a perfectly good car and I don't do compact cars very well.

For example, when I played Master Key last year, the middle prize was house cleaning for a year, which was awarded to me as $2,080 in cash. It wouldn't surprise me if "car washes for a year" came as a similar value in cash, which the contestant can use to get car washes, go on a trip, or do whatever they like with.

Plus in this case the tires already show being given as a value gift certificate, so anyone with any type of car would be able to use tires at some point in whatever size fits their current vehicle.  And likely the small amount of contestants who don't have a car would know someone that they could give a nice present to for a small percentage of its regular cost (the fees they'd have to pay on the prize).

This Pay the Rent also seemed a bit more unusual, in that while many have a variety of combinations, I'm not sure that too often has it been that the 2nd floor had no option while at the same time, the two lower levels didn't matter which of the three items you put where?
