PatrickRox80's The Price is Right: Seasons (1976)
« on: May 21, 2020, 10:41:04 PM »
The Spirit of '76 is upon us all! I'll link the ground rules from my 1975 episode here:

http://www.golden-road.net/index.php/topic,30967.0.html

Here's the interview question for this episode:

How's this for an off-the wall celebrity special? The Price is Right: Game Show Host Edition! Aside from Bob Barker and Drew Carey, which game show host, past or present, do you believe has the most knowledge of prices? Who has the ability to win it all?

To accommodate for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, sign-ups will end on Wednesday, May 27 at 8:00 PM EDT. Good luck!

If I had to say one it would be Marc Summers. I grew up watching him on Nickelodeon.

My mind is telling me Tom Kennedy. And I just thought of something. He hosted the Nighttime version of TPIR! Lol!

Sure, I'll jump in.

Time for a cop-out answer: Mike Richards, the host of GSN's Pyramid and Divided. He only left the show a year ago, so I'd assume he still has some rudimentary knowledge of the prices and have the best chance of winning. He undoubtedly would have access to how they price the trips, which is perhaps the hardest part to price, and prizes like the E16 and Vespas don't fluctuate that much between seasons.

Now, if he can't because of legal issues, David Ruprecht from Supermarket Sweep would probably do the best on the grocery products, although he wouldn't know much about pricing things over $25 besides cash.
Reminding you about 1932... when Richard Dawson was born. I will remember $19.32, even after he Checked-Out. Feud will never be the same without you.

HYO total winnings: $117,234 + Canadian dollars

Real life winnings: $300 + $800 in gift cards

Pat Finn from Shop til You Drop! His show dealt with prices of small prizes, to medium prizes, and trips. He'd do well on The Price Is Right- and he wouldn't even have to have Grandma Curmudgeon to help him out!

I'm in! I'll say Charlie Ross, one of the presenters of the UK game show Bargain Hunt. He's got great knowledge of antiques, which would be perfect for an episode from 1976!

It's gotta be one of the James brothers. Art James hosted "Say When!!", a variation on the format of Price, whose goal is to pick items up to a price limit. It can also be the nighttime Price host himself Dennis James! He hosted Price for 6 years, so he'll never go wrong with prices for hosting that long!

I'd love to join.

I'm going to go with Alex Trebek. The running joke for the longest time is that he is so smart, he knew all the Jeopardy answers without help. Surely, he has gathered some pricing wisdom over the years

I'm in!

Gotta go with Monty Hall (and Wayne Brady the current host), since Monty's Let's Make a Deal also had pricing games and the prizes are very similar to the ones on Price.

Nobodyís said Bill Cullen yet?

If itís 1976, Bill Cullen.

If itís 2020, Bill Cullen carefully thawed after 40 years trapped in carbonite.
