You know, I always liked Balance Game in theory and thought it was too bad they retired it, but then I watched a few playings on YouTube, and-- oof, talk about a game totally lacking in excitement. It reminds me a little of Pay the Rent, in that it seems like the contestant really needs to be given 5 minutes with a pencil and paper to have a fighting chance at working out a solution. I mean, yeah, you can just try to match up two items close together in value, but if you don't get that on the first try it's very hard to recover.
I looked over the prices and figured out 5 winning combinations. Only 2 of them were with one item on each side of the scale.
And then like Add 'em Up, everyone could tell how the game was going to end before he even picked the last item. Wins were just as bad if the prices didn't match exactly, because they made the contestant go through with putting the Barker Dollars on the scale before they declared it a victory.
