Five Price Tags gets its rightful place as Pricing Game Survival winner the second time around! Thanks TPIR04 for doing the game.

tpirfan04, this was a fun game to play this summer as I also had fun playing it and I can't wait to see the comparisons from this year and last summer when it comes how each Pricing Game fared in the rankings.

When I first did the Pricing Game Reviews soooo many years ago, I felt that Five Price Tags had everything needed in a good pricing game: A cool set, easy to follow rules, unique gameplay, smart contestants being rewarded and always exciting. Glad to see it got the first place voting which it frankly deserved a lot sooner.

Regardless of whether or not things went your way, it was certainly a good way to pass the time during the "you-know-what" crisis. This was certainly a fun game, and I'm generally satisfied with this list.

Well...opinions, but I can see I'm an odd one out when it comes to 3 Strikes (especially midway through the survival game, after I had a conversation about pricing games with my mom while we both got to watch a few summer reruns). I agree that Five Price Tags is definitely a quality pricing game, so I can accept that it came out on top; I just can't accept the rare wipeouts...but really, who else does? :P

I did challenge Five Price Tags based on my honest opinion, but again, I'm cool with it at the top. Sometimes, I just wish I could've given the gold to more than one game. I also think that if Tags/Strikes had a runaway, this survival game might have gotten boring after a while and would lead to inactivity.

Obviously, the early assault on Grocery Game was annoying, but that's probably how some of you wanted it to be. :oldlol:

Overall, many thanks for hosting this survival game, tpir04!

Telephone Game was retired because it was lame. (And no, we’re not making that up – that really is the official reason.)

I always try not to critique a game based it being played badly (Grocery Game wipeouts, Five Price Tags "falsitis", Contestants taking their time on timed games) because it's really not the game's fault if it's played badly.

I will say that I do get annoyed at the very rare times that Pocket Change is played perfectly because the fun part is seeing how much change the contestant picked.

I find a few things interesting:
1) Aside from a few major exceptions, most of the games are still relatively close to where they were last year. Especially those that were flat, i.e. no change.
2) Some mediocre games (Clock Game, Race Game, Bonus Game, et al.) got high marks both times simply because of that: they were mediocre. Better games were built up early, worse games killed early; these just sat there in limbo for a while.

Live for the present.  Embrace the future.  Our favorite game show is still producing excellent, high quality, exciting, hour-long* shows every weekday throughout its traditional season window.  It’s as good as it’s been in a long, long time.  If the 1980s were the ‘good ole days’ for the Barker era, so is RIGHT NOW for the Carey era.  Don’t worry about what the future holds.  It will play out in due time.  Enjoy what we have right in front of us in the meantime!

Thanks for the numbers, those are interesting.

I'm surprised Check Out fell so far, and that Plinko's struggled to crack the top 20 both years.

  • Expecto Patronum!

Thanks for the numbers, those are interesting.

I'm surprised Check Out fell so far, and that Plinko's struggled to crack the top 20 both years.
I'm more surprised by Cliffhangers's fall than Check Out's although both are top 10 worthy in my opinion.

Plinko is too polarizing to have finished particularly high. I'm an anti Plinko guy myself as it's a luck based game on a show that's supposed to be about pricing skill and it also frequently leads to letdowns. How many times have we seen Plinko hype a big prize only to see a pittance won. And  remember too Plinko has NEVER been won
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

That's true. I like but I'm not a huge fan of Plinko myself, but sometimes I'm still surprised.
