Happy 96th birthday, Johnny Gilbert!

Exactly as the title says.

As all of you know, he’s most known as announcer of Jeopardy!, but has announced the Cullen Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, The $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime, many versions of Pyramid, and so many more! Personally, favorite announcing job of his is the 1991 version of The $100,000 Pyramid. What’s yours?

Agreed. His play-by-play of the Big Sweep was a perfect fit for the show.

He was no slouch at emceeing, either. He had his own show, Music Bingo, in 1958, and he sub-hosted on Camouflage (ABC 1961 version) and The Price Is Right (ABC).

Out of all the announcers the various incarnations of Pyramid had over the years, I liked Johnny the best in the role, as to me, he seemed to fit the show the best.
