RIP Alex Trebek (1940-2020)
« on: November 08, 2020, 12:32:17 PM »
Alex Trebek passed away peacefully in his home this morning at the age of 80, surrounded by family and friends.

The industry has lost a legend.

Rest In Peace, Alex.
Quote from: Bill Todman
"The sign of a good game, is when you don't have to explain it every day. The key is not simplicity, but apparent simplicity. Password looks like any idiot could have made it up, but we have 14 of our people working on that show. There is a great complexity behind the screen. It requires great work to keep it simple."

This one hurts. I've been a fan of Alex for as long as I can remember. He will go down as a true legend in the game show industry.

Prayers go out to his family and friends.

This has been a horrible year for game show hosts. First Regis, then Tom Kennedy, and now Alex Trebek.  This one hurts the most. RIP Alex.  :( :(

I knew it was coming, yet it hit me like a ton of bricks.

A fighter till the very end. Like Tom Kennedy, one of the best all-around game show host ever. A truly, truly horrible year all around.

EDIT: F*** cancer.

I didn't know it was coming, and I'm still in a feeling of disbelief. J! just won't be the same without one of the best around...

Yikes. This one hurts. I mean, it was inevitable, but he seemed to be doing so well.  A true legend, perhaps the Greatest of All Time, he will be sorely missed.

Seriously, f*** cancer.

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

We also lost Hugh Downs too this year, which means that we've lost multiple Concentration hosts as well. Is it 2021 yet?

And its so shocking because the last ever thing Jeopardy!-related I listened to was the Round Over sound affect that scared me as a kid.

So long, Mr. Trebek.  :-(

This came as no surprise to me as well, but the second I saw the news, it hit me harder than the reports of all of the stars we lost, this year, and forever.

Rest in peace, Mr. Trebek.

Just absolutely devastating. We knew it would happen eventually, but since he hadn't given a health update in a while I just assumed no news was good news. I really hope he stepped down prior to his final taping so he could give a goodbye to the audience. Otherwise it's just that much worse. RIP Alex, a true class act and one of if not the best in the business. Thank you for providing a half hour of joy to millions of people every night.

This year just continues to hit.

Yeah I hope so too.....someone over at the Jeopardy Reddit page on that said he was taping through October 29th and his last show would air on 12/25 or Christmas Day of all days. Something sadly poetic about that. RIP to one of the GOAT to steal a title. Between him and Tom Kennedy......last few weeks have seen a couple huge losses from the golden age era of TV. So sad.
