LiteBulb88, you need to update your strategy guide for Dice Game to include finessing the dice :P

Also, Cliffy is going to suffer a lot without an audience. I said in the Discord that this might be its worst season in a while, but it really could be its worst season, period, if things continue like this.
"If any show, forget sports, Price is Right, [the audience is] the star of the show. Somebody... coming on down and losing their minds, and ... crying, that's the show. The show isn't me, the show isn't necessarily [a] can of soup, how much that is, it's watching people go bananas, and there's going to be some of that missing."

-Drew Carey, interview with Athletic, September 16, 2020

"I honestly thought the doubler was gone, but 9821 going $0 makes sense"

Has there ever been a Dice Game auto-win that has caused by a player rolling four sixes or four ones? Seeing as it has a probability of 1/1,296 (1/648 if you include the ones), I highly doubt it.

It’s happened several times; one contestant in 1996 even rolled the exact price

It's the second show of the season, and both cars in the pricing games were worth less than $19,000. I hope we're not already in budget mode. :-o

Temptation: Well, now we know how they'll stage it--really not much different than usual. As for gameplay, for the last digit, why do people keep picking the non-0 or 5 option in this game?

Grand Game: Nice win. The last time the target price was strictly less than the $3.50 it was today was January 4, 2017, when it was $3.00. (To be fair, it's been $3.50 a number of times since then.)

One Wrong Price: Expensive prize package! The $5,000-ish prize they used was the most expensive prize in this game since a refrigerator went for $5,599 on November 28, 2016.

Cliff Hangers:oww:  :boo:

Dice Game:  YAHTZEE xlx xlx xlx! Granted, it was four dice instead of five, but still very impressive.

LiteBulb88, you need to update your strategy guide for Dice Game to include finessing the dice :P

If you know how to get in touch with the contestant, let me know. I'd love to take a dice throwing class from him!  :-D

Has there ever been a Dice Game auto-win that has caused by a player rolling four sixes or four ones? Seeing as it has a probability of 1/1,296 (1/648 if you include the ones), I highly doubt it.

Also, the odds of getting an auto-win (heh) aren't as long as you'd think--you don't need to roll four sixes or four ones or four exact digits in order to win the car without making a decision. You just need some combination of four rolls with any of those three options.

Let's assume the worst case scenario for an auto-win, that the price of the car is something like $21,616 and only two "auto-win" sides on each die (the one and the six)

Your odds of winning without needing to make a decision are (2/6)*(2/6)*(2/6)*(2/6) = 16/1296 = 1 in 81

Now let's assume the best case scenario for an auto-win, that there are no ones or sixes in the price of the car, and there are three "auto-win" sides on each die (a one, a six, and some digit between 2 and 5)

(3/6)*(3/6)*(3/6)*(3/6) = 81/1296 =1 in 16

So the "true" odds of winning without needing to make a decision are somewhere between 1 in 16 and 1 in 81, depending on the price of the car. Probably closer to 1/16 than 1/81, because it's more likely for any given digit to be a 2-5 instead of 1 or 6

This matches up with the stats--since Season 30 Dice game has been played 366 times and has been won by rolling four ones/sixes/exact numbers 13 times, or about once every 28 playings.

Wow. Looks like an auto-win happens a lot more frequently on this game than I thought. Empirically, it seems like it’s about a 1-in-28 chance of winning the car without calling higher/lower.

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

Include me in the camp of finding Michael kissing the dice incredibly irresponsible. How dare the show let that go.

Something tells me that all the Vegas casinos will have security on notice to watch Michael very closely should he go anywhere near a Craps table.  8-)

Also, make sure that the wheel is extra-sanitized for the next taping.
All opinions expressed here are well-reasoned and insightful. Needless to say, they are not those of the Price is Right, or any organization for which I have worked for or will work for. Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight.

Small production observations-
1) I suppose all Showcase winners may be getting a ‘Total Won’ money graphic on screen this season? IIRC it has always been reserved for $35k + winners, though today’s Showcase winner only cleared $30k.

2) Without an actual audience the rhythmic audience claps mixed into the Yodely Guy soundtrack really stand out. Maybe that’s why they’ve started to start it over completely between stops.

Drew has to get better at knowing the contestants’ names. I don’t know if it’s harder because of the distance but it’s really noticeable to me.

I’m glad someone went for the car on Temptation.

Good win on Grand Game.

During cliffhangers , the music played for 2 seconds before Yodely Guy got a chance to move.
