It's back! LIVE SHOW #41: HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR
« on: December 04, 2020, 10:24:18 PM »
Hey folks!

I hope everyone is having a happy and healthy holiday season. In the dumpster fire of a year that is 2020, and with everything going on in the world today, this holiday season is unlike any we've ever seen. Never fear, though, because we're here to spread some holiday cheer, by bringing back an old G-R.net tradition: live chatroom Price shows!

This time, we're in Discord, thanks to the death of FlashChat (has it been that long since we've done one of these?), coming to you live for Live Show #41: The Price is Right $1,000,000 Holiday Spectacular! Join us in the Discord on Friday, December 18th for another edition of the most exciting hour (or so) of fantastic prizes! We've got plenty of fun holiday-themed prizes up for grabs, and since it's a Million Dollar Spectacular, a million dollars will be up for grabs!

I will be your host, Guint will be your announcer, Prizes will be our contestant coordinator, while Kev347 is serving as a producer.

The show will start at 9pm EST. Everyone in the Discord (save for the above mentioned) will be eligible to play, though if you want to be in the First Four, you will want to be in the Discord at least a half hour early, as Prizes will be conducting auditions to determine the first four players.

We hope to see many of you on the 18th!

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

After the last live show, which I hosted, five years ago, I did not think these would get back off the ground. kudos to cu, Prizes, and Guint for reviving them.

I'll try to make it and hopefully come on down!

Oh my gosh, I forgot all about the Live Shows. Last time I was a contestant? Live Show #4. I was 13 and was about to start the 8th grade; I'm now 30!

Still haven't gotten over my heart-breaking Temptation loss. (Although, I still fondly remember my triumphant Safe Crackers win from the second Live Show.)

Now, I'm nostalgic for a simpler time in my life. Looking forward to this again- will try my best to be there!

Wow, I forgot it's been that long already. I do remember being the big winner  I had never even been called down in any show I participated in before that.

We're one night away, folks, and we've got lots in store for you! We've just finished rehearsals and everything is good to go... we should have a fun night in store for you.

The show will take place on the official Golden-Road.net Discord server. We will be conducting the show in a soon-to-go-live "Livetime" channel; simply click on the channel and you're in.

The show starts at 9pm Eastern. I will be in the chatroom starting at 8 or so; the official "line" will start then. Jess will conduct auditions starting at approximately 830; this will determine the First Four. The other five contestants (plus alternates) will be randomly selected, so no worries about having a good audition, everyone in the chatroom before the show starts is able to be selected as a contestant. If you want to be a contestant, you must be in the chatroom before the show starts... once the show begins, anyone showing up late will not be able to play.

During the show itself, any random chat (unrelated to the show) is prohibited. Use one of the other channels instead. Anyone is free to help out the contestants, just like on the real show (well, how it used to be before the world ended, that is), and anyone is free to react to the show itself like an audience member would (reaction memes, however, are strictly prohibited). Contestants should "@" me in the Discord with their final decision, so it doesn't get lost in the mix.

During commercial breaks, feel free to comment on the previous segment, make up fake commercials, help fill the time. A one minute warning will be given before we go back on.

There might be more little things that come up as we progress... this is the first time using Discord, so we're figuring it out as we go along.

Live Shows have always brought huge crowds in the past... we hope to see many of you old and new there!

Thank you all for coming out tonight! The turnout was incredible- far better than I expected- and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun, despite the craziness and wackiness of some of the prizes. What a win on Golden Road too! Despite a couple minor techincal hiccups, and the extremely long runtime, everything ran fairly smoothly.

We definitely want to do more of these, and we're shooting for late February to do another. The next show will be a normal "daytime" episode, and won't be quite as wacky as this one, but still expect the unexpected nonetheless. We're hoping to integrate more graphics into future shows, and possibly even use the Discord voice channel with real-time hosting and announcing, live graphics, and a more "realistic" presentation. We're bringing JJ (thepriceis_J) onto the staff for future shows, and we want to make future shows even better.

Any feedback is appreciated! This was the first Live Show in over five years, and the first using Discord, so obviously there are some growing pains involved...we only want to improve, so any suggestions or comments you have are more than welcome. Every piece of feedback (well, those that don't break the forum Rules that is) is welcome!

Just a short BUMP now that we're back-

Jess and I have tentatively set the date for the next Live Show as Friday, February 12, 2021. More details obviously to come later, but we hope to finally integrate more graphics and voice chat for a more realistic (and faster-paced) experience.

That was the most fun I've had at home in quite a while! Even though I didn't get called down, I loved watching and playing along with the games. The banter among everyone was witty and entertaining!

CU, Prizes, Kev, and Guint did an amazing job. If you were unable to attend the last Live Show, make an effort to attend the next. It's a super fun time with fellow LFaT's and will not disappoint!

(Still trying to figure out how a hot tub can possible cost $25,000, though.)
