When Aaron took that Al Downing pitch deep for no. 715 on 4/8/74, it was double sweet. Not only did he break the Babe's record but he also called the bluff of the ignorant buffoons who threatened to kill him if he did.

Already, some people are blaming the vaccine as the main reason for his death.

He did say he was taking it two weeks ago. That’s going to be hard to swallow.

A source told USA Today that it was a massive stroke. Can vaccines cause that?

To be considered vaccinated, one has to receive two doses, with a minimum timeline of 14 days apart.  You can't receive a flu shot or any similar vaccine during the process.  I don't know how far along he was, but assuming he was shown getting the vaccine, he still had the second shot before he was through.

Really, I don't know what else was going on with the 86-year old to where he is no longer with us.  The news of his passing just broke today, so I'm going to let the time pass before the causes are made public.  I'll leave the speculation to those that handle it, but whatever happened, the MLB community, if not America and Planet Earth lost a true icon, a role that he had before, during, and after his Hall of Fame Career.

Hank Aaron will always be the home run king to me as well.  What's on paper/documented is what it is, but in his playing days what he did was more than spectacular.  The constant pressure of just playing the sport, let alone going for and eventually passing Babe Ruth was phenomenal.  He handled it with such class and took it.  I can't imagine that happening today.

I remember when Hank did a commercial encouraging Barry to "ride off into the sunset" after he broke McGwire's single-season record, and Bonds was having none of it.  Eventually Aaron was classy about it, IMO after the 2007 season.  More than Bug Selig, that's for sure!

RIP, Mr. Aaron.

Larry King, who became an icon through his interviews with countless newsmakers and his sartorial sensibilities on his long-running CNN show Larry King Live, has died. He was 87, cause of death not disclosed but he had been hospitalized with the coronavirus for a few weeks.

What a rough week.  In addition to the above people mentioned, Don Sutton, Hank Aaron, and most recently Gregory Sierra & Larry King. After getting through losing Tommy Lasorda and Joanne Rogers.  Classy stuff from Jerry Seinfeld as it relates to Larry King (that 2007 interview was part of a package paying tribute to him).

Live for the present.  Embrace the future.  Our favorite game show is still producing excellent, high quality, exciting, hour-long* shows every weekday throughout its traditional season window.  It’s as good as it’s been in a long, long time.  If the 1980s were the ‘good ole days’ for the Barker era, so is RIGHT NOW for the Carey era.  Don’t worry about what the future holds.  It will play out in due time.  Enjoy what we have right in front of us in the meantime!

Cloris Leachman, best known for her role as the delightfully neurotic Phyllis Lindstrom on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and her own subsequent sitcom along with her role as an embittered small-town housewife in Peter Bogdanovich’s elegiac The Last Picture Show that won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, along with winning multiple Emmys in her career, died yesterday of natural causes in Encinitas, California at age 94.
