The new Shell Game small prize display and staging gets a "meh" from me. The edit into the game felt awkward and the price reveals made me think of Let's Make a Deal. The old way looked classier. And with that long explanation at the beginning, I would not have chosen it for today's Big Money Game.

I would have won the auto in Lucky $even, picking 8 for the final digit.

The color scheme is very nice, but I'm not a terrific fan of touchscreens replacing the price cards, and the animated background on the video walls is distracting.

I do like having the small prizes come in on the turntable, though. Gives it a "Give or Keep" feel.

Password looks like any idiot could have made it up, but we have 14 of our people working on that show. There is a great complexity behind the screen. It requires great work to keep it simple."

That game came to mind for me as well. I especially liked it because of the shot of the turntable turning around and around again for each pair of small prizes involved.

Wasn't it Mark Goodson who didn't like the idea of showing the prices "electronically" like that? (I assume it was because he, or whoever did say that, felt that it might come across as the price is being manipulated backstage.)

And how many pricing games have had two or more "significant" design changes? The two I can think of off the top of my head are Temptation and Card Game, and even with those, the first change wasn't much more than a color change.

Oh, Shell Game.
My favorite game, because of history and rarity. But geez. Maybe it was presented as such due to it debuting its new colors and prize display, along with it being Big Money Week (surely there would have been a huge graphic on the video wall if there’d had been a big win), but I hope they go away from the Give or Keep/ Bonus Game “show the game before the main prize” presentation. But they made special graphic animation for the entire video wall. It’s neat, I’ll say that much. Maybe they could limit it to just the prize display screens in the future; the whole scene was a little too LMAD-ish for that to become the new normal. But maybe a paint job and some nice track lighting is enough to have them pop Shell Game in the rotation a little more regularly. Drew’s learned how to just plow through it anyway so it shouldn’t be such a time issue anymore.

Hey, imagine if they’d shot Give or Keep like that, with the wide shot of Bob, the contestant, the game and the turntable prizes that woulda been neat, huh?
Sigh..

Dang it. Couldn’t modify my last post.

Just noticed the shell table doesn’t have the game’s logo on it anymore. I predict it’s Give or Keep Video Wall staging from here forward.

DYC, I think we could swap avatars!  However, the original logo would look so out of place on the walls

I like the set.  Nothing over the top; not a disaster but it does fit better with the turntable (albeit a tad too much).  Glad I’m not the only one that thought of Give or Keep in terms of the layout and the use of the turning portion of the turntable for the prizes.

I'm not sure whether a change was needed but I wasn't a fan when Shell Game was updated 20 years ago.  Despite the lack of a logo on the wall (in favor of the table), I got used to it in a hurry and was okay with it.  Still, this third prop works best with the current set

My immediate reaction was "Well that's different." There's nothing wrong with it per se  but I can't say I'd call it an improvement. It's fine.

I hate the update. Yes, I forever will be a part of the old school crowd, but this is just ugly. Too much blue. Shell Game should have an older carnival look. The electronics for price reveals take all the charm from it.

I had a doctor’s appointment today and Price was on in the waiting room. A rare watch for me. In any event, I thought that it was a misleading scam to advertise a top prize of $100k for Shell Game. I know, I know...it was possible to win the $100k with perfect pricing and a 25% shot in the dark. But to make the ancillary $50k part of the promoted prize just seemed like a cheap gimmick for the big money week, as they do not do this during regular platings to my knowledge.

The new Shell Game set is... something. I'd like it more if they used more contrasting colors, there's a lot of blue. I miss the game name being on the table also. The new SP podium is neat. As for the playing, it was really set up to get all four won. They could've announced the prize as $50,000 at the start and then introduce the bonus to make it $100,000 instead of announcing $100,000 as the prize so it wasn't as misleading.

Not a fan of the new Shell Game refurbish. It looks like a gaudy Easter egg exploded all over the set.

Also agree with Marc; I hated how they announced the top prize being $100k. I get how they can justify doing it, but they should concentrate on winning all small prizes first before focusing on doubling the prize.

Such a shame they moved the staging, too; one of the highlights of my trip out to TPIR (besides getting called down and winning Push Over, of course) was seeing Shell Game spinning around on the turntable... and then freaking out because I was getting able to see my favorite game in person. It added some suspense wondering if it would be a GP game or Shell or Bonus. Would like to know when they set the game up on the turntable. Do they stop tape to get it into place?

I wouldn't be surprised if they set the Shell Game table during the bidding on the first One Bid and just made sure to shoot Drew from an angle that didn't reveal it. Notice that immediately after the trampoline was described for the second One Bid, the table was still visible as Drew commented on the prize.
