It's hardly "The Price is Right" if you can get all of the prices wrong and still win a car. Let 'em Roll and Hole in One...or Two also have this "feature" (as does the $10,000 prize in 1/2 Off and the ability to win $10,000 in Plinko).

Well, it's certainly rare when only the two car games are won, but I'll tell you one thing: Kim got lucky as hell finding the car with just one pick! I wouldn't have won either Most expensive or Check game because I too would not have thought that the chair was the most expensive and I would've written the check out for $2,600. Freeze frame and Bonus game on the other hand, I would've won those two with one hand tied behind my back. Regardless, I'm certainly glad that Any number and Pass the buck were won.

I actually agree. In rat race you get no free rats,  so why do you get a free 1 in 6 shot at a car in pass the buck?

Probably because they want to have at least one or two games where you get SOME chance to win something.

That's why I like half off. You still have a 1 in 16 shot at winning even if you get all the pricing wrong. But just for showing up to pass the buck you get a 4/6 chance of winning a prize.

All of these points mean nothing of course when it comes to temptation giving out free prizes but at least you don't have a free shot at a car you really have to earn it

They really insist on playing Check a lot this season, huh? This lineup was really funky, there aren't many full-hour shows with the SP and GP next to each other in the same half.

Great to see that a 3 prizer and Freeze/Range somehow is long enough to go with any car game, even A#, for a half. Bang-up job there guys, really.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Doubt that many people would've picked the chair over the grill in Most Expensive. I do recall that chair being used in Shopping Spree a few weeks ago though.

Tough SPs besides the eyelash curler in Bonus Game.

Brutal GP setups in Buck, but as we see all you need is 1 pick to win!

I thought $2,500 also for Check Game, I was thinking the game room was going to be in the upper $5,000 to lower $6,000 range.

It's hardly "The Price is Right" if you can get all of the prices wrong and still win a car. Let 'em Roll and Hole in One...or Two also have this "feature" (as does the $10,000 prize in 1/2 Off and the ability to win $10,000 in Plinko).
I see the point, but in most cases the odds are still well against the contestant to win the car. Pass the Buck it's a 1 in 6 chance which isn't that bad, and Hole in One you have a decent chance depending on good of a golfer you are. For Let em Roll it's difficult to roll all cars with just one roll and 1/2 Off is a 1 out of 16 shot.

For Let em Roll it's difficult to roll all cars with just one roll

To be specific, it's a 1 in 32 chance, since each die has a 50% chance of coming up with a car.

Simple really—because the game ran too long with the original three pairs of GPs and it moves the game to the exciting part a little quicker.

I’ve always been of the opinion that beating the odds and winning a car unexpectedly is good, not bad. Some will argue that they don’t “deserve” a pick; but I know of no other situation besides TPIR where knowing about prunes & potato salad translates to “deserving” a chance at winning a car. Seeing somebody freak out because they got very lucky is a feature, not a bug.

(Also, can’t exactly blame Kim for getting tripped up with that GP setup, they were not easy.)
Quote from: Bill Todman
"The sign of a good game, is when you don't have to explain it every day. The key is not simplicity, but apparent simplicity. Password looks like any idiot could have made it up, but we have 14 of our people working on that show. There is a great complexity behind the screen. It requires great work to keep it simple."
