I would have bet a lot that if one of these trips was really expensive, it'd be Rhode Island, not Alaska. But nope!

Of course, the player who's the furthest from one showcase would go over by $1 on the other.

Probably not that surprising - many things in Alaska are more expensive, simply due to the distance to get there (anything imported, from food on up), that those things are also brought in smaller quantities (when you have a population of around 650-700,000 spread over more land than any other state with far more people) to the fact that many of the tourist things are mainly open in the summer (so they have to make enough over 4-5 months to survive for the year).
