Great start to second week of the season with 5/6 games won! Other than the cash, Tempty's prize package was very cheap today.

If you're the one guy who obsesses over that arbitrary number, the maximum winnings for this episode are over $360,000. Is that a pointless statistic that involves a tie double showcase win, everyone spinning $26,000 on the wheel, and everyone winning their pricing game? Absolutely.

Really fun show today! When Drew mentioned that Rat Race might be the best pricing game, I couldn't help but note the conflict of interest there.

"If any show, forget sports, Price is Right, [the audience is] the star of the show. Somebody... coming on down and losing their minds, and ... crying, that's the show. The show isn't me, the show isn't necessarily [a] can of soup, how much that is, it's watching people go bananas, and there's going to be some of that missing."

-Drew Carey, interview with Athletic, September 16, 2020

"I honestly thought the doubler was gone, but 9821 going $0 makes sense"

The second and third pricing games were pre-empted in the Pacific time zone for coverage of President Biden's COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.

Minimum winnings: $11,432

That's how an optimist looks at it.

For those checking my math: this total includes the $300 given to each of the three contestants who did not win their way up on stage. I don't know whether they're still awarding a door prize what with the reduced audience, so I didn't include that potential $100.

Technically, the minimum winnings for any episode would be $0, although that would only happen if all nine contestants were later found to be ineligible.

Mean winnings: $55,863

This assumes a random valid guess on every pricing game, the contestant has 5/7 odds of bailing in Temptation (as last season did), mean value of a showcase is (both ARPs/2)*(1-% of double overbids in the last season), and some other assumptions I pulled out of my butt for Rat Race.
Quote from: Bill Todman
"The sign of a good game, is when you don't have to explain it every day. The key is not simplicity, but apparent simplicity. Password looks like any idiot could have made it up, but we have 14 of our people working on that show. There is a great complexity behind the screen. It requires great work to keep it simple."

That yellow spot was hot today! So close to a perfect game. Great win in Rat Race as well.
