At this point, I believe that any contestant who ends their Showcase bid in “251” truly knows the trick that the show does to prevent DSWs.

I overslept this morning, so I finished last Wednesday's recap and will get the other one up around 730.

I was wondering why you weren't in the Discord chat today.  Now we know.

Bonus Game may well be the weirdest setup I've seen for said game in a while. Three difficult SPs with the bonus behind the 4th and only relatively easy SP.

Agreed on James' -251 ending. Too bad he overbid though.

hey all

this is James from today's show.

Definitely a long-time fan and LFAT. The strategy guide here was immeasurably helpful in preparation and in the TTM win.

I knew everyone was way under on the one-bid, I was planning to bid 1000-1100 and then I only had to cover 675. I felt a little bad one-dollaring Evette, but she wouldn't have won either way, and I wasn't going to leave anything to chance.

Not sure if it's been discussed here, but they are filling contestants row left-to-right as each person is called down, I'm sure that seems obvious, but filming this on 8/10 in the second week of shooting, we had zero idea what to exactly expect.

Drew already knowing I was a huge fan was as a result of the stop down to mike everyone, he was asking when we got in line and going on about the good ole days were people were in line from the early hours and then we talked about overnight lineups for Bob's last year. Obviously on TV, it's weird continuity wise because he's just come out and I go straight up.

When TTM was revealed, while George was reading the copy I joked to Drew, "oh, thanks for the easy game." 😬

From the start I was basically like, I'm going to 3 or 7, and it'll be based on how much we see, and I'm guessing the car is 25k-ish based on brand and size. When it started with 17k, I knew we were going to 7, and when it lined up with the price in my head it felt good. We went super fast, and they had to reshoot Drew doing the prices because I was telling him to move on almost instantly through the first 4-5.

As I was backstage for PG2, during the stop tape to mic Silvia, Drew was joking with he audience: "man, that guy was super efficient," to some big laughs.

The Wheel was intense because Evette hit the 1.00 but was just short of a full spin. I was like "oh no, and then suddenly yelling 'it doesn't count'" - the crew was already all over it.

Silvia got the $1 bid from me, I really liked her when we were talking, and her son is named James, and was so happy she won and got to the showcase. I knew she badly needed a new car, and that was my motivation to pass any Car showcase to her.

That boat seems to have sinked a lot of people so far this season, I had it at 19k. The guy who played Time is Money was telling me afterwards he's 100% confident it's 16k. That 3k was the difference between a DSW and the big overbid. But honestly, I'm thrilled with how it worked out for Silvia.

Anyways, thanks for being a huge resource all these years. I wouldn't have won TTM without this forum, I don't believe.

Recap posted.

Congrats on your TTM win, especially given it's an early taping and the Outlander is pretty new. As for the left to right, I've noticed all season.

Also, $8 has to be the lowest number at time of hitting the button in Time since it returned, you'd have to think (for non-$0)

You know the contestant knows the trick they do in the showcases to avoid DSWs due to probably being an avid watcher like us and ending his bid with -251.

LOL at the $8 Time guess in this recap. That actually was a pretty easy set of GPs to price, but it was another disaster playing of Time with no clue.

Not so LOL at Pocket on 2 weeks with this S50 trend of evil 0s. It's just not kosher but it looks like it's going to keep happening, sadly. But in Pocket it really shouldn't - she only had one mistake to play with anyways today with her envelopes.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

When I stopped the frame on the button with him, it said $8. Still counts in my book, would've been a funny win.

Wait, so at what point do they stop to mic the first four now? Is it after everyone bids? I could have sworn watching the primetime special last week that the latest called contestant didn't have a mic when she made her bid.

In Season 48, they didn't mic the First Four until after someone won their way on stage. I think in my episode they waited until the first commercial break, but my memory is hazy.

Anyways, nice job James beating the mindgames of That's Too Much! It's a shame you got stuck with a :frbs:. Enjoy the car and TV.
"If any show, forget sports, Price is Right, [the audience is] the star of the show. Somebody... coming on down and losing their minds, and ... crying, that's the show. The show isn't me, the show isn't necessarily [a] can of soup, how much that is, it's watching people go bananas, and there's going to be some of that missing."

Congrats, James!

Wait, so at what point do they stop to mic the first four now? Is it after everyone bids? I could have sworn watching the primetime special last week that the latest called contestant didn't have a mic when she made her bid.

Every contestant is mic-ed as soon as they hit contestant's row. Due to COVID protocols, Drew's microphone can't reach them very well from six feet away.

So they call the first four and stop tape, and then stop tape after each contestant is called.

We even had a come on down re-shoot, that required getting some contestants who were still alive due to showcase showdown having their mics taken off for the reshoot
