Brian somehow struck me as an LFaT early on, probably due to his "what are you thinking by 1-upping someone as the third bidder?" implication he made during IUFB #2. And his bid showed why the 4th bidder should 1-up someone; had he bid $1750 to be "nice," he wouldn't have made it on to the stage, at least at that point. Then his showcase bid ending of -251 confirmed his LFaT status; if he's a reader of this website, I'd love to hear his story!

Money Game: Phew. That -50 is going to trip people up all season, but Steven got away with it.

You know, I just recently stopped with the "c'mon man" reaction from picking 50.  I'll still say it because, seriously.  However, there was big time speculation that a ton of people were going to pick 50 this year.  Just a personal decision.  I think we've had a couple of people win despite choosing 50.  Of course, there have been some that haven't won either, but the setups appeared to be cases where they probably would not have won anyway.

Man, there sure were a ton of 1-ups today!  As mentioned, never a great idea to do it as the 3rd bidder.  Speaking of the 3rd bidder, probably not great to bid $1 either.  Then there was Sarah, and the chance at a car playing More or Less was right there for the taking.  Perfect opportunity to do undo others...oh well.  It's never personal; it's just a business decision

September 20th, 2021 (3rd taping of day)
If you look at November 5th episode, you'll see some contestants (not me) from the November 8th episode because that was also taped that day and they carried over to the final taping.

Congrats, Brian!! That was a well earned showcase win. How was the pre-show contestant interview? Did you keep all your prizes?

I did keep all my prizes and am planning the trip now. They are backed up multiple years due to Covid.

Gold bars have not arrived yet. It will be actual gold bars like on the show and it was the one thing I knew pretty accurately because I know the spot price of gold as one of those weird facts.

I estimated 10k and 15k on the trip and boat because I didn't know boats well and use the $1000 per 1 foot rule in my head. I forgot about the trailer included and to add a little for the inflated airfare on Ireland. Then I chickened out at the last second and dropped my bid 3k so instead of 33,251, I went 30,251. In my head I had seen all these 25k showcases and my overbid from earlier missing out on Plinko by $2 was still hitting me so I guess I took the ultra-conservative route.

What's funny is I told the entire line in the pre-show that if a Miata convertible comes on....it's more expensive than you think and often over 30k with options. I was genuinely laughing when the Miata came out because I thought I had ruined my chances of winning since I warned all the contestants about it, but Stacy must not have heard. After she bid , I knew I won the showcase so there was no suspense as I had her showcase pegged at 38k+ easily. That was a relief during commercial break knowing I just had to make sure I kept my cool!

Pre-contestant interview was normal Q&A (who are you where you from what do you do). It was all friendly and like a family reunion/wedding vibe the entire time. TPIR is awesome and it confirmed why it's one of my favorite shows regardless of the outcome.

Gold spot fluctuates slightly so it's around $1800/oz so roughly $7200 value and apparently, I'm actually getting the gold bars.

So far I have only received the Armani stuff from the one bid.

Congrats Brian on your winnings! I haven't been paying much attention to computers this season, so I would have lost Do the Math in the exact same way. Great job rebounding in the showcases; it's fun seeing -251 becoming more frequent.

This is going to sound like a dumb request, but if it isn't too much of a hassle, could you give us the price of the boat and trailer down to the dollar? I frequently play CSS, and not knowing the price of the boats exactly is a pain.

The show isn't me, the show isn't necessarily [a] can of soup, how much that is, it's watching people go bananas, and there's going to be some of that missing."
