It's just so sad to see all these last-minute obituaries that most of the annual slideshows don't include, although I'm glad that Hugh Downs and Barbara Walters, as ABC's 1986 fall campaign said, are Together again. Pele and the Pope complete another classic "in threes" coming within three days of each other. May they and everyone else who passed on this past year, especially Queen Elizabeth II, Sidney Poitier, Bob Saget, Vin Scully, Taylor Hawkins, "Meat Loaf", Irene Cara, Nichelle Nichols, Paul Sorvino, James Caan, Gilbert Gottfried, William Hurt, Aaron Carter, Kirstie Alley, Ronnie Spector, Kevin Conroy, Olivia Newton-John, and Louie Anderson have even better resolutions someplace else that would be a good lesson for us.

Good riddance, 2022.
