Akira Takarada, who starred in the original 1954 film "Godzilla" and many other classic science fiction films for Japan's Toho Studios throughout his illustrious career, passed away on March 14th, 2022 at the age of 87.

He was also known for being the Japanese voice of Jafar from Disney's 1992 classic "Aladdin" and related media.

According to reports, Takarada had been experiencing lower back pain for quite some time and was last seen publicly at a movie premiere in a wheelchair just four days before his death.
