Fun fact: Evelyn Wong, the 5th person to be called on the first show (9/4/72), was actually the very first contestant to directly be called to come on down!  The original first four (Sandy Flornor, Paul Levine, Connie Donnel, Myra Carter) were individually told to stand up, and then, as a group, were invited to come on down.

I read somewhere it was going to tape in the UK, possibly on the UK version's set. I mean, they are using the same logo as the UK version.

The guy who created Wordle won't even admit he copied Lingo, and he's a millionaire now. How did he get away with it? I mean it's exactly the same except there's no first free letter or "Lingo card".

The concept of trying to guess five-letter words and being told which letters are correct actually dates back to a home game called "Jotto" in the 1950s. It was most popular in the 1970s.
