OBIT: Gilbert Gottfried (1955-2022)

Normally, I'd post obits in the obits thread, but this is notable enough for its own post.

Gilbert Gottfried, the great comedian, has passed away at age 67 after a long illness, confirmed by his family.

This legit sucks.

All I have to say is "YOU FOOL!"

On a serious note, he will be sorely missed. I'm young enough to associate him with the voice of Digit from Cyberchase. Others may recall him as the voice of Iago from Aladdin. And who could forget his time on Bergeron's Hollywood Squares? In any role, he was very memorable.

May his soul rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.

I never knew about his ongoing heart disease until now. I should have known something was up, when I saw him an Pyramid, and he didn't look well at all.

I could imagine myself mourning in his voice for some reason.

He was my favorite of the 1998-2004 Hollywood Squares, and I'm gonna miss him.

Whether you remember Gilbert for his standup, as the Aflac duck, as a regular on Hollywood Squares, as Iago in Aladdin, his portrayal of Fred Fuchs on AVGN, as the voice of God on Smiling Friends, or wherever else, chances are he made you laugh at some point in your life. He'll be sorely missed. Rest in peace, you fool.

I never will forget him doing Digit on Cyberchase. He was also funny on Hollywood Squares with Tom Bergeron. RIP Gilbert Gottifried. He was a class act. You will never be forgotten.

Very sad loss. He was one of the best panelist on the pre-H2 seasons of the Bergeron Hollywood Squares and just had that great very distinctive voice.

I follow Tom Bergeron on Instagram.   He posted at least three posts of Gilbert Gottfried.   They were very close.   And he noted that Gilbert was his favorite guest on Hollywood Squares.
