Wow! I did not expect a win in Dice Game with those die rolls, a price of $25,456, and the contestant’s choices. With all but the fourth digit in the price showing, higher than a four?? I think Drew was also quite surprised.

Yay! I would have won in Check Out. My total: $20.76. Actual total $21.20.  A difference of…? :-)

Forty-four cents. This show has helped me with my mental math skills greatly.

I think this is the second time this week that a contestant won despite being way off on an expensive showcase because the other player overbid on a deceptively inexpensive showcase. From reruns I’ve seen on YouTube, I’ve found that the contestant with the more expensive showcase tends to lose more because they grossly underbid.

Same here. And I miss the host saying "A difference of..." a bit in that game.

Recap posted.

That was a heartbreaking loss in Check Out. I thought that was a guaranteed win. Woof.

Also I am enjoying the higher diversity in more expensive cars. Whoever's making the decisions to offer better cars is getting an A in my book.

They did not want Dice Game to be won, did they? Nice job to Pamela!

Why do you think Dice was set up not to be won? Assuming you knew the car was $25,000+, the only roll on digit 4 that would cause a loss going against the odds was a 4 - she just happened to have the bad luck to roll it. Digit 5 a good majority of people will assume the last number is a 5, so in my opinion, the only bad roll for that digit would be a 5 itself.

Most people will pick a combination of "high" and "low" in games where you have to make four choices between high and low. HLHL or HHLL or HHLH or so on. It's rare for somebody to pick HHHH.

You can't do much to guarantee a loss in Dice Game, but one thing you can try is to include 5s and 6s in the price and attempt to force the winning combination of picks to be HHHH.

I'm not sure why Pamela went against the odds with the 4, but I'm sure she's happy she did!

"The sign of a good game, is when you don't have to explain it every day. The key is not simplicity, but apparent simplicity. Password looks like any idiot could have made it up, but we have 14 of our people working on that show. There is a great complexity behind the screen. It requires great work to keep it simple."
