Sucks for Lindsey and her $100.  Perfect pricing in Punch, but it just wasn't meant to be.  IMO, it was a coinflip for whether to keep $2500 with two punches left.  I wouldn't fault her for keeping it, but I didn't have a problem with her going on.  She won a very nice prize to get up on stage, more than that $2,500.  Tough luck happens.

Hans backdoored, I guess.  Nice to see this guy win anyway.  Not a great start with Money Game; IMO the lack of good luck to start helped doom him.

I suspect Hans has done his research. For the first two digits in Money Game, he avoided the middle possibility which is what you should almost always do on the daytime show. Unfortunately, it backfired here, as this is a prime time show and they probably wanted the car won. Then his -251 showcase ending gave him away as someone who knows their TPiR strategy.

Otherwise, nothing terribly exciting about this primetime episode, except for wondering how 50 domestic flights only cost $10,000. That's $200/flight, which is way less than the average price per flight these days.

This is Hans von Walter's 7th game show. He is incredibly intelligent.

I fully believe the 50 flights thing is $10,000 in cash, which is fine.

Either that or possibly a Delta voucher like the live show gives out instead of trips.
YES! You have them all right! You win $2,500! You will putt from the closest line!

Jhc2010 putts from the closest line and WINS!!!

Congratulations! Those 2 cars are yours! Now we go to the Showcase Showdown! You will spin first. Pick a number between 1 and 20.

At least they got the Catskills on the right side of the Hudson River this time.

Unfortunately, that hotel they chose was just put up for sale, so hopefully it will still be available when Hans gets ready to take his trip :)

I guess they just can't win with these Catskills offerings they do ;)

They put a season ticket to an NFL team of choice at $10k also, right? I expect it to just be a generic cash prize, but who knows?

Pet peeve of mine. I went on a Discord rant about it. There are plenty of hotels in the Catskills that could take a trip and be more legit. Saugerties is better than Rhinebeck but still.

Take my word for it. Tons of venues in that area are getting sold/bought/under new management. It's absurd. The Gideon Putnam has changed hands twice since January.

Of course, Saugerties is a designer accessories hole, so that's a different issue.
Torgo has left the building. John and I never really cared for the way he presented himself.

Well hello

I am the titular Hans from this episode.

First off I want to say thank you to this site for the amazing study guide and general commentary on the day to day goings on of this show.

So someone referred me to a TPIR producer and conducted a Zoom interview with me. I was invited to come to CBS studios with 3-4 friends who could potentially be called down.  I held no fantasies about being one of the 9 to be called down for the show but I was nonetheless ready to have fun. 2 nights before I was scheduled to come to the studio, I was invited to potentially tape for a prime time episode with a celebrity guest. I quickly said yes and the rest was history.

In line that day I saw plenty of other folks who would have made wonderful and excellent contestants. I have no idea why I was picked other than showing off how excited I was to be in line and how much I wanted to play Cliffhangers (cuz Yodely Guy’s name is Hans!). When the show started, I was optimistic about being placed in the back of the studio but obviously when the First Four were called down I was worried about my actual televisual value.

So getting called down second was such a thrill. Wow. I couldn’t believe it happened. I ran down and nearly knocked down one of the pod stands. I gave a bid that won. I got to come up. It was happening.

The Money Game. I’d read the strategy on this. Of the three possible first two digits, pick the lowest and the highest. I picked 32. Money.  I picked 30. Money. I picked 31. Car. I should have realized at this point that they were making this easy for Primetime. I went 14, el Cheapo of the board. Money. Finally I went the highest number on the board, 96. Money. No Mini for me, the correct next number was 85, which Rachel had said. Bummer. At least I get to spin the wheel.

First girl gets to Spin (after winning $100 in Punch). 95. Well. This was nice while it lasted.
I spin. 95. What.
Spin off. I win. What.

I wait for the showcase. Lenora had won the audience’s affection for being the last First Four to come up and winning a hard Hi Lo playing.

She gets the first showcase and I’m surprised she keeps it, a Harley, a Mazda, and Gucci shoes. I’m shocked she bids $48000. Seems high.

I hear my showcase. Living room, maybe $5k. Catskills, maybe $4k. Pontoon boat????? Well. The rule of thumb I heard on Golden Road was $1k per foot. This was a 22ft boat. Let’s go $22k + $10k. But also I’m pretty sure she’s way over. And also I wanna signal to those I am a LFAT. $28251.

During the commercial break drew goes “I am
VERY curious how this will end up. That’s a nice boat.”  I figure im fucked.

Drew comes back and reads our prices. Im
Under by $33k. She’s over. I win.

What.

Congrats Hans!!! Sorry they picked you for the rare Money Game playing they tried to make easy :(--you almost certainly would've won on a normal show. But very happy you won your showcase with some good thinking! Are you keeping everything? What's your next game show to conquer :-D? Thanks for your report!

Again, congrats Hans for getting called on down and winning your showcase!

That Catskills trip just popped up on the regular show, and it was around $6,500. Was the boat actually like $48k or something? Are you keeping the boat?

Thanks all!
Yes, the boat was valued at $51k. Insanely overvalued IMO and threw off everyone's guesses. I'm super curious if they are ever going to offer it again, from a quick search of the recap archive I don't see that it had ever been offered before. I chose to keep it in the hopes of getting a good resale deal either back to the dealer or to another potential buyer considering it's MSRP, but I'm keeping my expectations tempered. I have not been contacted by the dealer yet, though.

The TV from the living room set did show up on my doorstep unexpectedly, though!

As far as my next game show....who knows! I kind of just wait for them to fall into my lap, and if it works out, great! If not, there's always some other show around the corner!
