With the one exception below, I was quite underwhelmed with this 50th anniversary celebratory show. It felt more like a season recap than a commemoration of the fifty years. The 1972 Chevrolet offer and win were great, but a nearly $69K trailer in Luck Game, I mean Range Game? To be blunt, how about something with an engine?

Such a poignant Bob Barker tribute from Drew. Even without the accompanying video, I was genuinely moved. Time marches on.

Nice of them to play the new games one more time.  Was Back to 72 ever lost?

I echo GameShowKid’s sentiments in that it never felt like a true anniversary episode but more like a look back at Season 50 in general.

Nice to hear some classic cues though for Back to 72.

Pretty disappointed we didn’t get to see Any Number played.

As evidenced by the jumps from $50,000 and $250,000, and $250,000 to $1 million. I don’t think anybody was going to win it.

...or Clock Game, or Grocery Game, even if the latter would violate the "only one 'dollars-and-cents' game per show, not counting Golden Road" policy.

I want to say that Back to '72 was lost once, but I'm not entirely sure.
You also say "one more time" as if both are retiring; while that probably was Back to '72's last final playing, I think To The Penny sticks around.

Looks like "in the middle" would have won twice, with both Back to '72 and Range Game. Okay, okay, "in the middle" is not a Range Game strategy, although "cover the price in the middle and either $100 above it or $100 below it" usually works, if you know which side to stop on.

I need to pay more attention to what cars cost; I would have went over on both of those showcases. Okay, just barely on that Camry one (I said $40,000), but over is over. "I'll bid 39 - no, make that 38,995..."

I enjoyed the show top to bottom. I know Bob has his huge fans (and rightly so as he was the master for 35 years) yet Drew's treatment for the past 15 has been fresh and entertaining. With time constraints due to commercial obligations, the balance between celebrating the golden anniversary and getting the games played was just fine to me. And I hope they are able to be on the air for another fifty years.
Stay tuned for The Young And The Restless one half hour from now over most of these CBS stations.

I got the wrong idea of what this show would be about. I thought that since they aimed for the closest date to fifty years since the start, I thought they would go for a show that encompassed all 50 years.

Instead, this show ended up being more like those Best of 201X shows for Season 50. That's fine, and they hit most of the highlights (two new games, million-dollar week, DCW, I guess the Come on Down tour with Range, the first showcase), but the excitement just flatlined for me after the bailout on Penny. No one winning in the feeless second half and both showcases being worth less than over half the contestants played for felt anticlimactic.

Nice of them to play the new games one more time.  Was Back to 72 ever lost?

It was lost three times.
"If any show, forget sports, Price is Right, [the audience is] the star of the show. Somebody... coming on down and losing their minds, and ... crying, that's the show. The show isn't me, the show isn't necessarily [a] can of soup, how much that is, it's watching people go bananas, and there's going to be some of that missing."

-Drew Carey, interview with Athletic, September 16, 2020

"I honestly thought the doubler was gone, but 9821 going $0 makes sense"

I didn't know it was a Best of Season 50 / Best of 2021 show instead of a 50th anniversary show. Oh wait.

Big fail. They certainly acquitted themselves better on the 40th.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Overall I was fairly pleased with the program today.  Lots of amazing prizes up for grabs to be sure.

All three second half games being lost was a let down, and they were all so close too.

Range Game by $12....That's Too Much, he had to go one more (I would have won that car had I been playing that game today), and Switch? both prices were so close together and both seemed to be right, I figured the $14k prize would have been the vehicle and not the spa...

A $1,000 win during Showcase Showdown #1...we also had not one, but TWO spins that did not go all the way around, one in each showdown.  The second one was a heartbreaker for the guy too, as he had spun 40 cents, then hit 60, but the wheel did not make one full revolution, so it did not count.  Drew hadn't realized it at first.  That's one thing to me I wish he would do better, pay closer attention to where the wheel starts and stops each time.

The retro music cues for Back to '72 were nice.  And I concur, it was rather disappointing that Any Number wasn't featured in this episode...and an even bigger letdown when it was That's Too Much! being played instead.

On a personal note, the gentleman who won the trip to Belize greatly resembled my late father-in-law.  It was nice at least that this episode did feature Double Prices, one of the games from the very first episode.

Like others have said I was expecting this to be more of a daytime 50th anniversary special than a celebration of the 50th season. I guess it makes some sense to focus more on season 50 itself since they had the primetime special already though. It would've been nice to play Any Number and Bonus Game today though to go along with Double Prices, and maybe they could've brought back the 1972 set recreation they used for the Halloween show for the game today.

Easy setup in Back to 72 with the first two items being exactly in the middle of the range, though I was surprised the saw was not closer to the middle. She still won with plenty of breathing room though. Nice to hear the old cues, though the way George read the copy was pretty cringy, he sounded like he was imitating a reporter on an old news reel. That wraps up Back to 72's active pricing game life.

The first two items in To the Penny were easy, but I was definitely not expecting the detergent to only be $3.99. I thought she should've used the pennies to eliminate wrong prices first and left two for the next item instead of just one.

That was an odd looking trailer. Tough loss, stopped about a second too late.

Switch was a total toss-up, though it's usually when in doubt choose switch.

It was a nice touch to have the trip to Acapulco as a prize, and oh so close to winning that BMW.

A very nice tribute to Bob at the end of the second SCSD.

Big fail. They certainly acquitted themselves better on the 40th.
To be fair, they didn't have a primetime special for the 40th season. That episode was the special.

I think Drew just got caught up in the moment that he had spun a dollar. Luckily it was noticed off stage.

Another special that was fun to watch, though perhaps it could've been a bit better.

This looked like they were going for 5/6 plus the $50,000 bailout. Just a little more in the budget for Season 51, I guess.

I certainly wouldn't have guessed $3.99 for the detergent in To The Penny. I also thought Range Game would be a win when Nathan stopped and, with an expensive prize that wasn't a trip, that the $150 range could go a little higher.

Even though the showcases weren't too big, I guess the six pricing games made up for it. And you wouldn't want to end a show like that with a double overbid.

Season 51, don't let me down!
