Just my opinion, but it's sorta a must-win for New York.  I'll try to better explain in the next paragraph.  Not something you'd say when the mentioned team is leading in the series.  Of course, a loss gives homefield to Cleveland.

A painful 9th inning for Seattle gives Houston a 2-0 ALDS lead.  The good news is that it appears that the Mariners haven't given up following their Game 1 fall.  They go back home, but the Astros are one-win away from the ALCS.  That would be a massive edge if the Yankees can't close fast enough (if at all).  Four games in as many days due to bad scheduling, structure, and the weather

Phils win! The offense woke up with a 6 run bottom of the third powered by a 10 pitch Bryson Stott at bat that ended in a double and then Hoskins and Harper homered to knock out Spencer Strider, who hadn't pitched in a long time and after two great innings, he clearly tired. Phils are up 2-1 and have a chance to eliminate the Braves at home tomorrow night. What a scene at Citizens Bank Park!

Also, the Guardians win 4-2 in 10 innings against the Yankees to tie that series at 1 each.

Just like in game 1, Atlanta left 19 runners on base. That's just plain ridiculous.

The Padres take game three 2-1 by scoring two early runs and hanging on the rest of the game. It's the Padres' first playoff win in front of fans ever at Petco Park and their first in San Diego since 1998. The Padres now lead 2-1 and can finish off the Dodgers tomorrow.

Schedule for Saturday (all times Eastern):

Braves at Phillies, 2:07 PM, FS1 (Phillies lead 2-1)
Astros at Mariners, 4:07 PM, TBS (Astros lead 2-0; first playoff game in Seattle since 2001)
Yankees at Guardians, 7:37 PM, TBS (series tied 1-1)
Dodgers at Padres, 9:37 PM, FS1 (Padres lead 2-1)

It should be an incredible day of baseball.

Atlanta, Seattle, N.Y. and L.A. are all favored today.

So, the Phillies, not the Mets or Braves, were actually the best team in the N.L. East. Wow!
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

And also history in the making for the Phillies as J.T. Realmuto hits an inside-the-park home run, becoming the first catcher to do so in postseason history.

After an 18-inning affair, Houston wins 1-0, sweeping the Mariners (thank God!) and advancing to the ALCS

I was hoping the inning record would be broken and that it would go to a 19th inning but oh well - the Astros will face the winner of the Guardians-Yankees series.

Darn! I’m not a sports fan in general but as a Washingtonian I’m sad. Was in Seattle last weekend and there were definitely a lot of people at T-Mobile Park when we walked by.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Just to wrap up what's been an amazing day of baseball:

* Phils win!! Light hitting CF Brandon Marsh hit a 3 run HR to get the scoring going and then, as mentioned, C JT Realmuto hit an inside the park HR where Braves RF Ronald Acuña Jr. couldn't be bothered to back up on the play until it was way too late. Phils to the NLCS for the first time in 12 years!

* In an epic 18 inning game, Astros SS Jeremy Peña hit a HR to win the game 1-0 and complete the sweep of the Mariners.

* In the only game I didn't watch at all due to the other games going on, the Guardians came back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Yankees 6-5. The Guardians are up 2-1 in that series.

* And finally, the Dodgers took an early 3-0 lead after a 30 minute rain delay (in San Diego :-o) but couldn't hold on as their bullpen melted down in the bottom of the 7th and gave up 5 runs. Padres win 5-3 and are in the NLCS for the first time in 24 years!

So the NLCS is set: #5 San Diego vs. #6 Philadelphia, with two incredibly loud ballparks and amazing fan bases ready for a shot at the World Series. This is going to be a seriously fun series to watch. Game 1 is on Tuesday in SD; time TBD but game 1 of the first LCS to start usually begins around 8 PM Eastern Time.

The only game on Sunday will be Guardians at Yankees, 7 PM Eastern Time on TBS. Guardians can win the series in Cleveland while the Yankees will be trying to send the series back to NY for a game 5 on Monday.

That Dodgers massive choke...Oh they will have a lot of sleepless nights about this.   111 wins in the regular season, goes down the drain.

My friend on Facebook called this Choketober.

It's always a great day when those damn Dodgers lose! YEAH! :)

With the Braves eliminated, the only vested interest I have in the playoffs is San Diego (having lived in metro SD as a tyke). Starting pitchers for game 1 plus time and TV have yet to be announced.
