That Range Rover box reveal in ˝ Off gave me some serious Let’s Make A Deal vibes. :-)

Nice looking (and expensive) Maserati in That’s Too Much!. Close to a win there.

Great win in Pocket Change, and I see we are back to the contestants retrieving the envelopes. Very nice to get the first two numbers (after the “4”) without a mistake.

For those that actually may know: What's the win/loss status for Half Off?  Based on the rules and it being a cash game, it wouldn't be a win without winning $10,000.  As Bob once said (in terms of a $10,000 Plinko outcome), "That ain't no loss!"

I don't know or think anyone would care about winning or "losing" when it comes to Range Rover on TPIR.  BTW, personal experience: even though I no longer drive one, those are so nice!

This came up last time it happened, my argument then was

1) any hard and fast “rule” that has to cover 75 games AND funky special prizes in funky special weeks, without exception, is eventually going to fall apart, and this situation highlights the absurdity of it

2) if we’re bound and determined to follow one rule exactly no exceptions, in 2020 the “big prize” announced at the start of the game was the cash, because in 2020 DCW playing described the car as a “bonus”. But this playing changed the presentation to George saying “$10,000 in cash… OR… a new Range Rover” (maybe TPTB lurk here and decided to clean up the presentation?), so both were the big prizes and either would be a win

3) this is a silly thing to be concerned about, the people at the show who had rigid definitions of “wins” and “losses” and kept the stats are no longer with the show, I just assume they wrote “won a car” and moved on

Also, a $7 fake in Half Off has to be one of the lowest prices (fake or real) ever used in that game, no?

The lowest real price they ever used in 1/2 off ( that I can remember off the top of my head ) was a $8 Farkle game.

Recap posted.

It is really annoying when the Range Rover isn't even described as being just OVER 50,000 DOLLARS and not any details on model, options, etc. That's really annoying. (I was really hoping she'd win the cash for that reason.) For the recap purposes, as its two top prizes in an or situation, either result is considered a win.

On one hand, that was my favorite playing of half off ever. It was absolutely awesome that perfect pricing guaranteed either $10000 or the Range Rover. It was wonderful to actually see a fair game of half off. On the other hand, not describing the Range Rover in any detail at all and not even giving the exact price was lazy producing and poor production quality, plain and simple. I actually love how they stepped up the values and prestige of some of the "other" cars this year, ala Gas Money yesterday and Pocket Change today.

All in all a pretty enjoyable Dream Car Week this year. But yeah, the lack of description of the Range Rover was a blemish, no if, ands or buts.

Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Back to 72, Magic Number.

I just realized that we had incredibly bad luck at the wheel this week. None of this week’s 30 Showcase Showdown contestants spun a dollar which would’ve given them the chance at the Genesis. The probability of not having a single dollar spin in any given week is only 4.6%, if my math is correct.

Correct, but that assumes that everybody takes two spins, and there are no spinoffs. (Every spin always has exactly one number that will give the contestant $1, so the probability that, out of 60 spins, none of them land on the needed number is (19/20)^60.)
There were 57 spins this week, including the four in the back-to-back spinoffs, which has a 5.37% (1 in 18.6) of having no $1000 winners.

I love this year's "Dream Car Week"! Is too bad the Genesis has not been won. But, I liked to saw 3 out of 6 pricing games played for a car, and the cars who has been offered this week, on the pricing games and in the showcases. And day after day during this week, was always an excitement to see what cars are going to be offered on that day. And, this week our first DSW winner of the season happens! For instance, 11 cars as been won this week, from a MINI Cooper to a Porsche! This has been quite a week! I can't wait for the next episodes this season!
