As great as the first half was, the second half was just as bad. They do test patience when putting in 35k SUVs in TTM (7th), but even worse than that was the .50 apple pie slices in Penny. You can get a loss later in the setup than right away, you know.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

"Big strong number." Let's not forget about a big strong spin, though to be fair, some people do need help with the Big Wheel. I think the second spin should've been enough for Drew to jump in.

I couldn't believe that someone would pass a Showcase with a computer, a trip, and a car. Sure, there could be a better second Showcase, but something's gotta make the first one worth bidding immediately, right?

Never would I have thought the first item on To The Penny be so difficult. I’m not sure how many people would have gotten that correct.

They really need to reveal the master key first if they get into the situation where the contestants get the car + the master key. Getting the master key is exciting, and revealing the car key first made the master key anticlimactic.

I don't know if they can. Most likely you would need a stand to put the first key or something. If you put an M on the key to alert Drew the Contestant could find out.

I believe Scott has said there *is* a way for the host to know which key is which...but won't say for obvious reasons. It comes down to the host to manage the key order, and we have seen hosts switch the key order for dramatic effect.

Scott might want to say more, but here is the information that had been shared in the past about how this was handled.

And Drew is still doing a poor job with it.

Maybe, but I swear they tell Drew something about the keys. I’m trying to remember a time when a car key (either the car or master key) was tried first against a non-car key. People on this site know more than I do so they might have an example.  But I swear they find a way to get the car/key second against a non-car key.  If that’s the case, then the producers can find a way tell Drew to try the master key first in this scenario.

I thought I read that someone from the producer’s table signals the host as to which key to begin with.

As it relates to whether the car key or the master key is revealed.  I don't know what's the absolute best.  For me, I don't think it ever mattered, and one could argue either way.  While the other prizes in Master Key are much better overall than in Switcheroo, more people care about the car and not so much about everything else.  How would I know if the car key was chosen if the Master Key was used first?  That would be on a curious level to see if both were chosen.  Whereas, if someone wins the car, they could simply speed through the process of learning what the other key produced (be it the first prize, second prize, neither or both).

Meanwhile, I am on record of not being a huge fan of "free stuff" (ex. Pay The Rent, 10 Chances, though the latter isn't a big deal).  Outside of going on and losing, you're sorta given $3,000 to walk away without continuing.  That being said, I hope I never see that setup like the one for the Apple Pie ever again.  That would've been okay later on in the game, but that was not cool for the first prize.  Especially here.  Completely agree in terms of the tough nature of it.  Tough it helps to give contestants little-to-no room for error.  OTOH, if someone gets lucky, it might backfire if a player makes a run for $6,000 & possibly $12,000

The keys actually "do" something?  I always assumed the locks were controlled by the producers since they know which keys were picked.

The keys absolutely do something.  They have magnets on them that correspond to magnetic positions within the three locks.  Which of the three spots on a key are magnetized determines which lock(s) it opens.
