"Nobody cares about the guest stars." - Roger Dobkowitz

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

We're a whole week into the season and haven't had a single showcase bid ending in -000 yet? I'll take some responsibility for that, I was definitely helping people bid non-standard endings, but perhaps the contestants are getting a little smarter as well?

Rachel was in the crowd for show one and was asked to stay. I don't remember if I gave her the thousands digit or just the ending. I think I gave her the whole bid but just went really low because I am terrified of making people go over. I was seated next to Edwin's family during the showcase showdown and showcases due to someone having to catch a flight, so I definitely had some influence on his bid, or at least what his family was yelling. I was really rooting for him to at least get to the showcase because he definitely deserved a big win. They were talking with me after the show. He’d been married 40 years, never took a honeymoon, and his wife hadn’t ever been out of the country. All that and he won nearly $40,000 worth of trips. One of the many many reasons why I love this show.
YES! You have them all right! You win $2,500! You will putt from the closest line!

Jhc2010 putts from the closest line and WINS!!!

Congratulations! Those 2 cars are yours! Now we go to the Showcase Showdown! You will spin first. Pick a number between 1 and 20.

I'm sure Adam will do the recap when he has time (if he hasn't already); for now, I'm sure you'd like to discuss the show that aired on Friday.

I did it Friday. I worked all day. Give me a few minutes

Well that was unexpected.

We got there for the morning show (which aired Thursday at 8. My interview didn’t feel particularly out of the ordinary but that did remember me from Friday with the big group. The morning taping came and went, I didn’t notice anything off except a number of extras filing in last minute near the back.

After the taping they offered some extra seats available for the next taping session, which OneBidTris, thatgameshowguy/Jsach, and myself jumped on. We were told we wouldn’t be interviewed again but we would have the same consideration as everyone else to be called down. (I was slightly skeptical, but little did I know…) There was barely enough time to grab my phone out of check, text family members to let them know I was still alive, eat a complimentary Subway sandwich (which I wasn’t hungry for), go to the bathroom to change my shirt, check my phone back in, then head back to the studio with everyone else.

When we got to the studio, Tris and I were seated together while Jsach was seated on the opposite side. We were moved around shortly before taping began, and Tris had asked for a replacement name tag for me because mine was starting to peel off. Should I have expected something? Maybe, but I was busy taking everything in since I knew it would be my last taping for the trip.

The show starts, and per usual George is impossible to hear so I was watching the name cards. When I saw my name I loudly shouted “OH MY GOD!!!” and BOLTED down to CR. I was nervous and sweating the entire time to the point an assistant came out with a rag for me to keep in my pocket to wipe my forehead.

I wasn’t able to capitalize unfortunately; I was looking in the audience between Tris and Jsach (who I each got different advice from) and trying to make my best guess. They both were very helpful and I tried to pick what made sense to me (or split the difference), but it didn’t pan out. I definitely got more tense as time went on, to the point Drew commented on it before the fifth segment. Once the sixth IUFB came and went and I didn’t make it on stage I was kind of in a daze of shock and anxiety. I was still trying to smile for the camera when I knew it was on me but I was also mouthing “I’m sorry” to my friends from my seat, feeling like I had failed as a self-proclaimed superfan.

When the show ended I filled out my paperwork for my $300, collected my folder and name sign and was led out by an assistant. I asked her before we left if I could walk on stage since I never got a chance to come up. She was confused but nice enough to let me walk in front of CR with her closely behind. When I made it outside Tris and Jsach both greeted me with hugs. My first reaction was, “so when’s the next redemption special?” We went to dinner at Cheesecake Factory while I was trying to let my emotions process.

Although things didn’t go as planned I’ve made peace with it and still can’t believe I heard my name get called. I got to live out a dream that I had been hoping for since I was in preschool. I got to shake Drew’s hand and talk to him multiple times. Most importantly, I got to meet some friends I’ve known online for years as well as some new friends. There was a giant outpouring of support after my episode aired that also helped me feel better about how things went. It was the trip of a lifetime and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else in my corner. Thank you to everyone who made that entire experience special.

(But really, when’s the next redemption special? 2033 is so far away!)

It's hard not to think about this episode without thinking about what the end result was, but it was certainly a noteworthy way to end the trip. The interviewers sounded interested in Jacob from the first interview, both time he did get asked about his favorite game. We ran after the first show ended to make sure we got seats for show 2 and we got there in good time. Yes, I packed two shirts, I'd made a few for the new studio and I wanted to make sure I got to wear them all this trip. I was happy that my favorite shirt of the bunch was the one that made its way down into contestants' row.

I know it's a regular thing for people who do show one and come back for show two to get picked (there's a group that George remembers in particular who comes up soon that has become his go-to for encouraging people to come back), but we'd done two shows and just was happy to be there. I did think something might have been up when we got moved, but I had no way of knowing. Although, it was a little funny seeing the audience people try to figure out where the new name tag needed to go. Poor name tag had a hard time stay on, even after 3 new ones, he's not even the only one I've seen have that issue this season.

It just seemed like things never really clicked, Jacob would go to one side when my bids seemed to work, and then he'd come to me when my bids stopped working. Of course, it didn't help that Green wasn't doing a great job bidding either, so he never got to bid last. The emotions were very much mixed for me throughout the show. But it still kinda stung for all of us by the end, even as we headed to dinner afterward.

We were all proud Jacob got called down, but it was tough feeling like we let some people down, even if that's how the game goes. I'm glad he's gotten a good amount of support, and I've had plenty of good times even after this show, but that feeling of  not coming through when it mattered most did take some time to shake off.

Other than that, was so glad to see Punch again. Got to see it once at the old place before the paint and it had been way too long since I got to see it live. I know we would have done well there (and TTM).

I was happy to have gotten to do as many tapings with both of my fellow boardies (and everyone from day one) as I did, and I am glad that my friend was able to live out the dream, even if it didn't work out. I'm truly proud that he got called on down and I know everyone is too, hopefully we can try to get him back on sooner, if redemption is possible before all is said and done.
