As stellar as the Braves have been, there has been some rust in the armor. P Charlie Morton will not pitch through the DS as he's been nursing a finger blister, and with the exception of Rasael Iglesias the bullpen has recently been porous. Right now Philadelphia has some much needed momentum and could come out of the wild card to win it all. Look out for Texas as well. The Astros are getting their second wind and stand a good chance to repeat.

Sportsnet will also carry the Blue Jays-Twins series, with their broadcast crew on site in Minnesota.

I think from a Blue Jays standpoint they were lucky to make it to the playoffs, as many of us counted them out when the Rangers swept them in September and they had an okay regular season. Still they will have to improve on their performance in the wild card if they want to make a deep playoff run.

Rangers take Game 1 in a 4-0 shutout.

Twins currently lead the Jays 3-1 in the seventh. If this lead holds, they will snap their 18-game postseason losing streak.

Texas advances after a 7-1 win against Tampa Bay, who had tied the record for most consecutive scoreless innings in the postseason (33). Texas plays Baltimore in the DS starting Saturday.

Meanwhile Tampa Bay failed to sell out both of their wildcard games, which is really concerning to say the least from the MLB saying that no playoff team should have an empty stadium. With an afternoon start time for both games, that played a role seeing empty seats at Tropicana Field.

Arizona has swept Milwaukee out of the playoffs, and it's looking like Philadelphia will do the same to Miami.  So round 2 will look like this barring a Marlins miracle:

ALDS: Texas Rangers vs. Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins vs. Houston Astros

NLDS: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves
