Turntable question...
« on: June 09, 2006, 04:36:41 PM »
I'm curious... Who originally designed the Turntable?

There doesn't seem to really be any mention in the credits for whoever designed the Turntable, the pricing games, and the other elements of the set. Then again, I'm not looking hard enough, and the credits sometimes roll by extremely fast to fit the time constraints of whatever show CBS is advertising. (Is it really that important!?! )

And, on a related side note... What do you think the staff was smoking when they decided to make the Turntable pink, purple, and blue!?!

Ted Cooper, I believe, designed the original set (including the turntable).

I concur that the present colors are hideous. Bring back the green.

I prefered the purple, orange and red from the 80's/early 90's

Yes, they did have padding back then.

In my opinion, the light green carpet was the best!

I doubt you were looking for a serious answer...but after the first Million Dollar Spectaculars, someone on the staff noted that Bob looked really good against the colors of the nighttime Hollywood mural, so they decided to bring the old walls back with more nighttime-ish colors.

Really? I thought the light green carpet looked ugly with a purple, red, and orange Turntable! I prefer the red carpet. It looked better, and it survived the transition to the Hollywood mural from Season 31!

Maybe if the Turntable were made green with the carpet, the light green carpet would have survived. But that's just my opinion... (prepares shield)

No offense, but do we constantly have to rehash everyone's favorite set colors?  We've demonstrated repeatedly that, 90% of the time, a person's favorite set or announcer or rules or whatever are those which happened to be in place when that person first started watching the show.

I think the current turntable colors should stay.  The entire 2002-2003 set should stay the same for years to come.

I like the current colors, but I wouldn't have a problem if they went back to the old turntable design.

I, personally, don't see anything wrong with the current colors.  Hey, it's better than that Hollywood mural!  I just hope that if they ever do change the pattern, that they don't do anything that the average person would think of as "ugly".
