Quote from: Bill Todman
"The sign of a good game, is when you don't have to explain it every day. The key is not simplicity, but apparent simplicity. Password looks like any idiot could have made it up, but we have 14 of our people working on that show. There is a great complexity behind the screen. It requires great work to keep it simple."

A 50/50 split today, three losses and three wins. It was a pretty good show today, especially with another game that isn't won all the time, Pocket Change, and with the car price only being $1, Makenna did better on the pricing of the car than most. Plus, $1.00 spinners are always nice to see, especially when they occur in a spin-off, something that rarely occurs.

I still can't as excited as I used to when Bonus Game is won. The loss of the incandescent display continues to have that effect on me.

Very nice and lucky Pocket Change win!

Hmmm... I wonder who that was in the background behind Pamela after she chose the Band-Aids in Grocery Game.

I know it hurts. So does losing the special reveal. I do take pleasure in the fact it gets played regularly and it still has its original 1972 set piece. That, and it's getting some actual prime time love (Four times with the current regime compared to zero previously.)

I'm not as big of a fan of the current display either, but with the wonkiness caused by new lighting grid, who knows if the old incandescent display would even show properly on TV...

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

Sometimes you have to let the past move on. The old design just would look terrible now in HD. They probably could do a tad better job with the speed of the reveal, but otherwise.

That was pretty much the opposite of how to play Grocery Game.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

That's Too Much was even worse than it usually is today, because we didn't even get much banter between Drew and the contestant. I love when Drew says "they always say one more" and at least adds a bit of levity to what is pretty much a guaranteed loss. None of that today.

On the other hand, that was a very skillful and quick playing of Make Your Move. He may have been a LFaT.

It’s more of the “analog vs. digital” feeling I get when Bonus is played now that reduces my excitement. With the old display it felt like the “Bonus” was more locked in from the start and at the end the board was actually lit up (Bob: “Light up that bonus!” :-D) to reveal where it was. With the current setup, it feels more that it could be changed at the last moment to force a win or loss, even though I rationally know this is not the case (though it technologically could be).

I likely would feel much the same way if they moved to using a virtual ball and shells in Shell Game. (Ugh.)

Now that I'm with you. Having the other three windows turn black with a big gold "NO" on them would look cool and would seem like the bonus window was "locked in" at the beginning. Of course, we all know that Standards & Practices makes sure that no chicanery is done with the outcome. It's just more reassuring.

Still, seeing an "old friend" still get regular game play (More than it did a few years ago) is enough to put a smile on my face.

I don't know why it wouldn't -- doesn't Pick-a-Pair use pretty much the same thing?

And honestly, the current display doesn't look that good this year -- it seems like it gets blurry every time they do a close-up.

But Bonus Game's set wasn't updated until 2013 - five years into the show going HD.

I have to concur - even my spouse, a very casual viewer, made a comment about the screens when she saw Bonus Game played the other day.
