Solid use of "foisted" here.

A week old almost, but country music singer Margo Smith, known for her yodeling and covers of two late 1950s/early 1960s pop hits that she took to No. 1 on the country chart in 1978, dead at 84, complications from a stroke.

The songs covered:

* “Don’t Break the Heart That Loves You,” a cover of Connie Francis’ 1962 No. 1 pop hit.

* “It Only Hurts For a Little While,” originally by the Ames Brothers and a top 15 pop hit in 1956.

Margo was a celebrity the week of March 25-29, 1980 on “The Hollywood Squares,” a country music-themed week of episodes. Of all the stars who appeared that week, Jim Stafford is the last surviving of the lot; Tammy Wynette, three Georges (Lindsey, Goebel and Jones), Minnie Pearl, Mel Tillis and Roy Clark had passed earlier.

One of the greatest stage actresses in Broadway history. Rest in peace, Chita.

Sadly, we lost another Broadway star yesterday. Three-time Tony Award winner Hinton Battle also passed away.
