And with that, the conference final matchups are set:

Eastern Conference:
(M1) New York Rangers vs. Florida Panthers (A1)

Western Conference:
(C1) Dallas Stars vs. Edmonton Oilers (P2)

The ECF starts on Wednesday while the WCF goes on Thursday.

Both conference final series are now tied at 2-2 after the Edmonton Oilers managed to win 5-2 over the Dallas Stars in Game 4. Florida Panthers won 3-2 in OT against the New York Rangers in Game 4 to tie that series up at 2.

The Florida Panthers are going back to the Stanley Cup Finals! Despite a late goal from the New York Rangers in the third period, the Panthers hang on for a 2-1 win in Game 6 and take the series, 4-2.

It will now be up to the Edmonton Oilers to see if they can close it out at home against the Dallas Stars for their Game 6 tomorrow night. If they do, that would mean both conference final series followed the same pattern (away team winning odd numbered games, home team winning even numbered games).

And the ridiculous superstition of not picking up the conference trophy continues.

The Edmonton Oilers have done it! Despite getting outshot 35-10, the Oilers killed 28 straight penalties in a row (including 3 this game) and take Game 6, 2-1 and the series 4-2 over the Dallas Stars, making a return trip to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006.

Both conference finals followed the same pattern - wrapping it up in 6, final scores in Game 6 were 2-1, and the road team winning games 1, 3, and 5, while the home team won games 2, 4, and 6.

And just like the Florida Panthers (A1), the Edmonton Oilers (P2) didn't touch the conference trophy either.

The Stanley Cup Finals will start on Saturday, June 8th at 8pm ET, and will be on ABC, ESPN+, Sportsnet, CBC, and TVA Sports. The Florida Panthers will host games 1 and 2, as well as 5 and 7 if necessary, while the Edmonton Oilers will host games 3 and 4, as well as 6 if necessary.

The Florida Panthers win the first two games at home, with a 3-0 win in Game 1 and a 4-1 win in Game 2 to take a 2-0 series lead. Officiating however in Game 2 wasn't that great...

The Edmonton Oilers, if they are to come back in this series, would need to win the next two games on home soil Thursday and Saturday night.

The Edmonton Oilers stay alive! After losing Game 3 by a score of 4-3, they managed to win Game 4 and big by a score of 8-1. The Florida Panthers still lead the series 3-1, but if the Edmonton Oilers can do what four teams have done by completing the reverse sweep (overcoming a 3-0 deficit), they'll be the fifth team to do so in the history of the NHL playoffs since moving to a best of seven series.

Game 5 is Tuesday night at 8pm ET in Florida.

For the first time since 1945, a team has come back to tie a Stanley Cup Final series from an 0-3 deficit. Edmonton could finish the job Monday night.

This is unbelievable! I think many ever since November of last year when they had that slow start and fired their previous coach counted them out for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, let alone finals or even qualifying for the playoffs. And here we are now, one win away from what could finally end the Stanley Cup drought for Canada after 31 years and 34 years for the Edmonton Oilers.

They will have to play like they did in Game 6 for Game 7 on Monday night to get it done and get the reverse sweep, something that has only happened once before in a Stanley Cup Final when the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1942 completed the comeback after being down 3-0.
