Cars not being given out - cash equivalent?
« on: May 24, 2024, 03:17:52 PM »
I have heard that cash is now being offered for cars due to supply chain issues.

What's the real story?

And are the other prizes being given away.

Thank you.

If you live in California, there is no change. Unless they can’t deliver the vehicle or prize, the contestant is getting the prize.

When I was there at the end of Season 52, contestants were being told that if you are outside of California, their supplier cannot deliver vehicles outside of the state “due to COVID and strikes,” and contestants are receiving cash for those prizes. Non-vehicles are being delivered to contestants as normal.

These decisions aren't being made after the fact, either. I presume they make the call once the winner has filled out the W-9. I got backstage and was immediately told I was getting cash.

At least one contestant was offered to either a) fly out to LA to take delivery of the car and drive it back, or b) take cash.
